Title
ARRANGEMENT FOR CONTROL DEVICE
TECHNICAL AREA
The present invention relates to an adjusting device for actuators, and of the type being intended to perform on the one hand a linear regulating movement for positioning the actuator, and on the other hand an accelerated movement for displacement of the actuator between two end positions, of which one is the chosen regulating position, and which adjusting device comprises a support and a carriage displaceable along guide rails in the support by means of a driving device, and to which carriage the actuator is attached.
THE BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION AND THE PROBLEM
Adjusting devices of the type mentioned above are used i.a. to open and close a valve, through which molten metal flows. In this case the valve body is constituted of a ceramic rod passing through the charge and which in co-operation with the outlet opening of the melting crucible determining the through flow quantity as well as the opening- and the closing function. Normal adjusting movement may occur by means of linear controls, e.g. with a ballnut screw, which is driven by a stepping motor.
It occurs that an accelerated effort is necessary for closing or opening the valve, something which is not possible with the normal adjusting movement, which is slow and focussed on a relatively exact positioning.
THE OBJECT OF THE INVENTION AND THE SOLUTION OF THE PROBLEM
The object of the invention is to provide an adjusting device of the type mentioned above, which
• in one and the same construction has combined the accurate positioning of the actuator and the accelerated movement,
the construction is simple, and thereby, may be manufactured to a low cost, and
is reliable.
These objects have been solved by means of the driving motor being arranged on a motor bracket, the carriage being provided with a second set of guides arranged parallel to the first set of guides, the guide rails of the second set of guides being attached to said motor bracket, that a second driving motor is attached to the support and arranged by means of the displacement device to displace the motor bracket along the second set of guides, and that the displacement device of the second driving motor is designed to perform accelerated movements between two end positions.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
In the following the invention will be described with reference to an embodiment according to the enclosed drawings, in which:
Fig.1 shows the adjusting device of the invention in a side-view.
Fig.2 shows the adjusting device according to Fig. 1 in a front-view.
Fig. 3 shows a section along line III-III of Fig. 1.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF A PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
The adjusting device -denoted by 11- comprises a console-shaped support 12, of which the rear 13 is intended to be attached to a wall or the like. Inside the support 12 a carriage 14 is vertically displaceable serving as a holder for a bar 15, which is transversely arranged at the upper end of the support. The carriage 14 is guided by means of a set of guides 16, of which the inner guide rails 17 are attached to the carriage, and the exterior guide rails 18 are attached to the support 12.
A second set of parallel guides 19 are attached to the carriage 14. The inner guide rails
20 of the guides 19 are attached to the carriage, and the free ends of the exterior guide rails 21 of the guides 19 are attached to a motor bracket 22, which is located below the support. A driving motor 23 is arranged on the motor bracket 22, preferably a stepping motor, of which the output shaft 24 is a ballnut screw arranged to cooperate with a ballnut 25 which is attached to the console 26 of the support. The console also supports a second driving motor 27, which is preferably a pneumatic piston cylinder 28, of which the piston rod 29 is connected to the motor bracket 22 by its free end.
An actuator 30 is clampable at the end of the bar 15 facing away from the adjusting device 11, which in the chosen embodiment is constituted by a component of a valve, which is not shown in greater detail. The actuator 30 is the valve body of the valve and is constituted by a ceramic rod 31.
During normal regulating movement, e.g. for opening the valve by lifting the ceramic rod 31, the first driving motor 23 is started as much as corresponds to the desired opening gap. This occurs via the ball screw 24 and the ballnut 25, which displace the carriage 14, and thereby the bar 15, and the rod 31 vertically upwards. In, for instance an emergency situation, when an accelerated closing or opening of the valve must be accomplished, the second driving motor 27 is activated (air cylinder, spring cylinder or magnetic cylinder, alternatively), which via the piston rod 29, the motor bracket 22, the ballnut screw 24 and the ballnut 25 displaces the carriage 14 along the second guide 19, from one of its end positions to the opposite end position.
The invention is not limited to the embodiment shown, but the adjusting device can be varied within the scope of the appending claims. Thus, the guides can be of another known type, provided that the movement is linear and free from play. Further, the driving motors can be operated with media other than electricity or pneumatics, e.g. the accelerated movement can be achieved magnetically. Also, the adjusting device can be provided with a position indicator for a feed-back coupling to an operative control system.
