Abstract

The invention relates to hygiene and sanitary equipment, in particular to means for purifying drinking water, and more particularly to means for decontaminating water from bacteria. The aim of the invention is to solve a technical problem which consists in reducing the required quantity of disinfectants to be added to said water to maximum which is permissible for drinking water concentrations and also consists in reducing the amount of time needed for the destruction of bacteria after the use of the disinfectants. The device for decontaminating water, which provides the solution to said technical problem, comprises at least two electrodes embodied in a way which permits electrical connection thereof to the corresponding electric poles of the energy supply. In accordance with the invention, the electrodes are made of an alloy of silver, copper and gold, whereby the silver content in said alloy ranges from 49.8 % to 90.0 %, the copper content is 9.8 % to 50.0 % and the gold content is 0.1 % to 0.2 %.
