Description

Device for the opening of packages .
The present invention relates to a device for opening a package containing goods m fluid form.
The current method of distribution via a drum, barrel or some other similar container is associated with the risk of users coming into contact with chemicals when the package is changed. The greatest risk arises when the user pours the residue from the old vessel into the new one. There are also risks when transferring hoses and similar from the old vessel to the new one. The principal object of the present invention is thus, m the first instance, and by simple yet efficiently and safely functioning means, to solve the aforementioned problems effectively so that the risks are minimized and emptying/changing of the package can take place m a closed system without the risk of contact between the user and the aforementioned chemical.
The aforementioned object is achieved by means of a device m accordance with the present invention, which is characterised essentially i^ that an opener is present internally inside an accommodating part for a package, m that the aforementioned opener performs an opening function on a package, and m that the atorementioned opener is arranged in close association with a discharge opening vvh.__.ch leads from the aforementioned package accommodating part. The invention is described Joelow as a couple of preferred illustrative embodiments, in conjunction with which reference is made to the accompanying drawings, in which
Figs. 1-2 show a first preferred illustrative embodiment of an opening device for packages which contain liguid goods; and Figs. 3-7 show a second illustrative embodiment of the invention, where
Fig. 3 shows a sectioned view of the device viewed from the side; Fig. 4 shows the device from inside an accommodating part for packages that it is wished to open; Fig. 5 shows the invention functioning during an opening phase; and
Figs . 6 and 7 show the accommodating part from above and viewed from the side.
An device 1, which is intended for use to achieve opening of a package 2, which is of the kind that contains goods 3 m fluid form, i.e. either a liguid or a powder, known as a bulk package, and which, for example, comprises a container 6 accommodated internally 4 inside an outer casing 5, which container is produced from a flexible material or is formed by a conventional package made of, for example, cardboard, plastic or metal, etc., comprises a self-opening construction, as illustrated m the drawings as preferred illustrative embodiments . More specifically, an opener 9 is present internally 7 m an accommodating part 8 for a package 2. The aforementioned opener 9, which can have a dismembering function, exhibits, for example, a part operating with a piercing and/or cutting function nto the package 2 through the container € , and it is further so arranged m close association with a discharge opening 10 m the accommodating part δ. The goods 3 are led via the aforementioned discharge opening 10 from the package accommodating part 8 to the intended point cf use. Other appropriate methods and means can be used for the aforementioned opening and opener, such
Figure imgf000004_0001
• A guillotme-like function;
• A rotating tool such as a drill, blade or similar;
• A not tool which melts a hole; • A laser or similar which burns a hole;
• Mechanical scissors which cut a hole;
• A gun-like mechanism which, via compressed air or gunpowder, shoots a hole; or • A water jet or blaster which cuts a hole.
The accommodating part 8 is preferably executed as a tray open m an upward 11 direction and has the aforementioned discharge opening 10 situated at the lowest part 12 of the accommodating part, such as a corner of square form on the accommodating part 8.
The discharge opening is appropriately formed by a pipe stub 10, which is attached by welding, for example, to the αownward-facing 15 bottom 13 of the accommodating part » at one of its corners 14. The opener 9 is arranged m such a way that it is secured internally 16 m the aforementioned discharge opening 10, and it is preferably detachably accommodated m the aforementioned discharge opening 10 by means of a matching securing component 17, for example it is designed as a matching pipe or as a removable component of oent triangular form or some other form.
The opener 9 ±s preferably in the form of a sharp point lb and a number of cutting edges 19, 20 inclined backwards m a direction away from it. An appropriate design of the opener 9 is formed b^ a triangular-shaped piece ot metal or ceramic material foldeα along its centre line.
The tip 18 of the opener is appropriately so arranged as to extend in a direction 21 which is essentially parallel with both adjacent walls 22, 23 of the accommodating part 8 in the area cf the discharge opening 10. Other walls 24, 25 together with both the aforementioned walls 22, 23 and the bottom 13 form a container open in an upward 11 direction, which is preferably of matching form or exhibits a greater form than a package 2 accommodated therein that it is wished to open, and from which it is wished to empty the contents 3. The intended packages 2, which are so arranged as to be opened m accordance with the above method, can be formed for this purpose from an outer casing 5 which consists of cardboard, corrugated paperboard or some other similar material. A plastic container 6 can be accommodated internally 4 inside the aforementioned outer casing 5, which container is accessible from the outside via a tear-off corner part 26 of the outer casing 5 at the point of opening the pack, and through which formed opening 27 m the corner the internal plastic container 6 is exposed for opening and emptying. The aforementioned internal plastic container 6 is thus so arranged as to be stiffened by the outer casing 5. The package 2 is so arranged with at least one of ts sides 28, 29 as to make contact with fine support with, and thus to be guided against the opener 9 by a wall 22, 23 of the accommodating part 8.
The function of the device 1 is simple but effective, and tne person who handles the packages 2 tnus avoids coming into contact with the goods 3 m the container β, since opening these is effected fully automatically by the opener 9, which is fixed to the bottom of the accommodating part δ, penetrating into the container 6 when it is placed above the opener 9 m the accommodating part 8 and sliding down under its own weight against the bottom 13 of the accommodating part 8. The positioning of the various components means that all the goods 3 m the container 6 and the package 2 are emptied out and are brought to the __.ntei_.ded point of use, for example via a hose or by some other appropriate means.
The empty package 2 is environmentally friendly, since the various constituent materials can be separated easily and placed m appropriate storage for recycling or waste, and a new full package 2 can then be lifted up easily and lowered into the accommodating part 8 for dismembering and opening. A funnel-like part is formed by the lower part of the accommodating part in the area over the opener 9 when the accommodating part 8 is positioned m a slightly inclined attitude, as shown m Fig. 1.
In accordance with the embodiment of the device shown m Figs. 3-7, an accommodating part 108 is formed by an angled part only with an opening 110 m the corner 114 thereon, and an opener 109 is secured to the bottom of the aforementioned accommodating part 108 with its tip 118, for example, facing obliguely upwards towards the direction of introduction of a package. This means that the opener 109 cannot, as is the case for the construction shown in Figs. 1- 2, be removed for cleaning or, possibly, for sharpening or replacement, but the construction is instead simpler and can be replaced entirely if required.
The function and the nature of the invention should have been appreciated from the above description and illustrations, and the invention is not restricted to the illustrative examples described above and illustrated in the drawings and may be varied within the scope of the Patent Claims without departing from the idea of invention.
Tne invention permits the safe and easy handling of packages, such as special cartridge packages, containing compact base components in the absence of handling risks. The aforementioned cartridge packages can be adapted m their size, form and weight to suit the personnel, who must be able to lift them easily and place them m position -i the device.
