Abstract

Selon l'invention, un terminal d'usager émet une information de réseau de communications, telle qu'un code de réseau mobile publique, vers le système de communications par satellite lorsqu'il débute des appels à la fois nationaux et internationaux. Selon l'invention, le terminal d'usager configure les appels internationaux comme des appels locaux lorsqu'il est en communication avec le système de communications par satellite. Le système de communications par satellite peut alors acheminer des appels à destination internationale via le pays d'origine (c'est à dire, comme pour les appels locaux) plutôt que via le pays qui est le plus proche de la destination internationale, comme dans le cas du routage d'appel optimal (OCR). Dans une autre réalisation, le terminal d'usager émet des informations de communication et de destination à la fois pour des appels à destination locale ou internationale. L'information d'acheminement disponible au centre de commande indique si un OCR est permis ou non pour des abonnés particuliers au système de communications par satellite. Ainsi, le centre de commande peut acheminer des appels effectués par des abonnés sélectionnés sans OCR et acheminer des appels effectués par d'autres abonnés en utilisant l'OCR.
