Abstract

Process for the fabrication of activated cellulose and derivatives thereof such as viscose as raw material for the fabrication of fibers, films and other cellulose products through the treatment of any available cellulose source, essentially discarded or recycled cellulose material, wood pulp, non ligneous pulps, Kraft and paper grade pulps, chemical dissolution grade pulps, and mixtures thereof, with sodium hydroxide to a concentration from 19 to 26 % by weight at a temperature of approximately 50 to 105 °C during 26 to 240 minutes, wherein the properties and purity of the derivatives or products are not affected adversely.
