Site- structure transformation is particularly useful as most web content is structured with an endless web of interconnected links, which is not consistent with the closed-world environment of offline use.

The server 336 in turn will communicate the set of content to be adapted to the adaptation service 102 (which could be co-located with the library site 330).

  • the content provider can receive adaptation information 344 (e.g., diagnostic feedback, adaptation statistics) from the adaptation service 240 (FIG. 2) via e-mail 346.

  • the consumer 104 is able to decide whether or not they wish to proceed to download the adapted content.
  • the adapted content 103 can be provided to the user 104 via a web-based interface. More generally, adapted content 103 can be consumed by a user 104 via e-mail or any other type of electronic interface capable of delivering information to a consumer 104. In other embodiments, the content can be sourced from the publisher to the adaptation service via an equivalent range of electronic interfaces, including FTP and e-mail.
  • the range of adaptations that can be implemented within the context of the present invention can include, but is not limited to: language translation, content condensation/summarization and any other type of content transformation that is based on configuration information/content specification 244 (FIG. 2) provided by a publisher 106.

L'invention concerne un système ainsi qu'un modèle et un procédé d'exploitation pour service (102) d'adaptation Internet, utilisant un consommateur (103) et un éditeur (105) qui communiquent par l'intermédiaire d'Internet (108). Le service d'adaptation transforme du contenu Internet en une forme adaptée qui peut être utilisée sur un appareil portatif (110) ne pouvant initialement pas utiliser de contenu Internet classique. Le service d'adaptation produit le contenu adapté en fonction de préférences du fournisseur de contenu Internet. Ces préférences peuvent comprendre entre autres la fonctionnalité et le contenu publicitaire du contenu adapté. Le service d'adaptation permet d'assurer que l'appareil portatif peut utiliser le contenu partiellement en transformant le contenu Internet sur la base de fonctions connues de l'appareil portatif voulu.
