Abstract

The present invention relates to a portable power supply (1), specifically designed for recharging the battery packs of cellular phones (21) and the like, comprising a casing (2) having, at least a surface portion thereof, a plurality of solar cells (5) coupled to an electronic circuit for automatically controlling the supply voltage of the battery pack to be recharged.

Description

PORTABLE POWER SUPPLY FOR RECHARGING CELLULAR PHONE BATTERY PACKS
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a portable power supply, specifically designed for recharging the battery packs of cellular phones and the like. As is known, a very important problem is that of properly recharging the battery packs, in particular of cellular phones, under those conditions in which an electric network is not immediately available. At present no valid solution is available for properly solving the above mentioned problem.
Thus, the phone user is compelled to hold a number of charged battery packs, with obvious consequent drawbacks .
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
Accordingly, the aim of the present invention is to solve the above mentioned problem, by providing a portable power supply, allowing to recharge the battery packs of cellular phones and the like, without requiring a connection to an electric power network.
Within the scope of the above mentioned aim, a main object of the present invention is to provide such a power supply which is very compact to be easily held by the user.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a portable power supply which, owing to its constructional features, is very reliable and safe in operation.
Yet another object of the present invention is to provide such a power supply which can be easily made starting from easily commercially available elements and materials and which, moreover, is very competitive from a mere economic standpoint.
According to the present invention, the above mentioned aim and objects, as well as yet other objects, which will become more apparent hereinafter, are achieved by a portable power supply, specifically designed for recharging the battery packs of cellular phones and the like, characterized in that said power supply comprises a casing provided, at at least a surface portion thereof, with solar cells coupled to an electronic circuit for automatically controlling the supply voltage of the battery pack to be recharged.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
Further characteristics and advantages of the present invention will become more apparent hereinafter from the following detailed disclosure of a portable power supply, specifically designed for recharging battery packs of cellular phones and the like, which is illustrated, by way of an indicative, but not limitative, example, in the accompanying drawings , where :
Figure 1 is a schematic view illustrating the portable power supply according to the present invention, in a closed condition thereof;
Figure 2 illustrates the portable power supply according to the invention in an open position thereof; and
Figure 3 illustrates said portable power supply, in a use condition thereof.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
With reference to the number references of the above mentioned figures, the portable power supply, specifically designed for recharging the battery packs of cellular phones and the like, which has been generally indicated by the reference number 1, comprises a casing body 2 which, advantageously, is of a book type, and includes a base or bottom 3, to which is articulated a cover 4 which can be reclosed on said bottom.
At the inner surfaces of the bottom 3 and cover 4, are provided a plurality of solar cells 5, which are coupled to an electronic circuit designed for automatically controlling the supply voltage of the battery pack to be recharged.
The latter is housed in the front portion 6 extending from the bottom 3.
On said front portion a green signalling lamp 10 is arranged, for signalling a proper operation of the solar cells, i.e. as the light is sufficient to energize said cells.
A red signalling lamp 11 is moreover provided for signalling a slow speed recharging, in the presence of a weak sun, as well as a second red signalling lamp 12, for signalling a quick recharging, in the presence of a strong sun.
On the bottom is provided an electric socket 15 for coupling an electric cable 16, used for connecting a recharging base 20, in which the cellular phone 21 can be engaged. In this connection it should be apparent that the supporting base 20 will be designed depending on the specific configuration of the cellular phone.
The supporting base 20 can be advantageously also supplied by a motor vehicle battery, through suitable coupling cables.
The latter can also be coupled to an electric network, through suitably designed power transformers.
Alternatively, the portable power supply according to the present invention can be also coupled, through a cable, to the adapters conventionally used for recharging the battery packs of the portable phones.
With the above disclosed arrangement, a power supply or source is provided allowing to easily recharging a battery pack in a time similar to that required for recharging the battery packs from the electric net.
In practicing the invention, the used materials, provided that they are compatible with the intended use, as well as the contingent size and shapes, can be any, depending on requirements.

Claims

1. A portable power supply specifically designed for recharging the battery packs of cellular phones and the like, characterized in that said power supply comprises a casing body having, at at least a surface portion thereof, a plurality of solar cells coupled to an electronic circuit for automatically controlling the supply voltage of the battery pack to be recharged.
2. A portable power supply, according to Claim 1, characterized in that said casing body has a substantially flat configuration.
3. A portable power supply, according to Claims 1 and 2, characterized in that said casing body has a book arrangement, including a bottom, to which a cover is articulated, and that said solar cells are arranged on the inner face of said bottom and cover.
4. A portable power supply, according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said casing body comprises, on said bottom, a front portion for housing an electric circuit therein.
5. A portable power supply, according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said power supply comprises a green signalling lamp for signalling a proper operation of said solar cell, a first red signalling lamp for signalling a slow speed recharging, and a second red signalling lamp for signalling a quick recharging.
6. A portable power supply, according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said power supply can be coupled, by a connecting cable, to conventional adapters as use for recharging the battery packs of portable phones.
