Abstract

An intermediary between multiple processes operates in a network environment. When one process requires servicing of a request by another process, according to the present invention, it need not know all of the details about the process it requires. Rather, the process can merely specify to the intermediary that it requires servicing of a given request. The intermediary then simply accesses a database of processes and determines which processes perform this function. Then, the intermediary determines which processes that perform the given function are available, and sends the information regarding the process that is available to perform the given function to the requesting process so that the requesting process can then access the available process directly.
