Abstract

An inventive method is used in controlling the manner in which signals are demodulated in a Wireless Location System having a plurality of receiver systems (10-2A, 2B, 2C) distributed throughout a coverage area. Each of the receiver systems (10-2A, 2B, 2C) demodulates received signals carried on one of a prescribed set of reverse channels. The method comprises providing a master receiver system for each of the reverse channels, wherein the recorder receiver system(s) for any channelreceives but does not demodulate signals received on that channel. In addition, the method includes providing a slave receiver system for any channel demodulate signals received on that channel. The slave receiver system provides redundancy and thus improves the reliability of the location system.
