Abstract

The invention concerns a method for optimising the operation of a tank furnace comprising nozzles which consists in making fine particles of prereduced ore. The fine particles of prereduced ore are mixed with a solid carbon reducing agent, the fine prereduced ore particles having a size distribution less than 2 mm and the solid carbon reducing agent having a size distribution less than 200 νm. The mixture is injected hot through the nozzles into the tank furnace, wherein the fusion of the prereduced ore particles takes place.
