Abstract

A device for therapeutic applications performed in aqueous solution, comprising a plate-shaped element (2) which can be immersed in the aqueous solution, together with the part to be treated (6), and in which the plate-shaped element (2) is made of a tin-based alloy.

Description

"A device for therapeutic applications to the human body"
Technical field
The subject of the present invention is a device for therapeutic applications to the human body according to the preamble to the main claim. The invention also relates to the use of the device in the context of such therapeutic applications .
Technical background
It is known from devices previously marketed by the Applicant to use a plate-shaped element which, when immersed in an aqueous solution of sodium bicarbonate, develops favourable effects with respect to parts of the body, principally the extremities, which are immersed in the solution. Improved relaxation, anti-neuralgic treatment and yet further effects have been noted.
Description of the invention
The main object of the present invention is to provide a device of the above-mentioned type, the effects provided by which are further improved. The device comprises a plate-shaped element which can be immersed in the aqueous solution together with the part being treated and is characterized in that the plate-shaped element is made of a tin-based alloy.
Brief description of the drawings The characteristics and the advantages of the invention will become clearer from the following detailed description of a preferred embodiment thereof, described by way of non-limiting example with reference to the appended drawings, in which: - Figure 1 is a perspective view of the device of the invention, - Figure 2 is a view of the device of Figure 1 in use. Preferred embodiment of the invention
With reference to the drawings mentioned, a device formed in accordance with the present invention is generally indicated 1 and comprises a plate-shaped element 2 which may be of any shape but is preferably rectangular, with a thickness of between about 1 and about 2 mm and having dimensions of approximately 15 cm x 24 cm.
The plate-shaped element 2 has a matrix of through- holes, all indicated 3, distributed along median and diagonal lines. Alternatively, the holes 3 may have a different arrangement, such as a quincuncial or square grid arrangement . The holes 3 preferably have diameters of between 2 and 5 mm. An alloy of three metals, of which the main component is tin, is used in the production of the plate-shaped element 2. A preferred formulation of this alloy comprises 94% by weight of tin, 4% by weight of copper, and 2% by weight of antimony. Other alloy compositions may be used but that indicated is preferred. In any case, preferably, the percentage of tin is between 90 and 98%, that of copper is between 2 and 10% and that of antimony is between 0 and 4%.
The use of the device provides for the plate-shaped element 2 to be immersed in a basin 4 containing hot water 5 to which sodium bicarbonate has been added. Although sodium bicarbonate has a connotation of alkalinity, when dissolved in water, it gives rise to a mild acid reaction.
By way of preference, a concentration of bicarbonate generally of less than 50 grams/litre and preferably of the order of 5-10 grams/litre is indicated. The preferred temperature for the water is the maximum which can be tolerated without causing scalding and irritation of the epidermis of the human body.
When the device of the invention is in use, the extremities of the body, for example, the feet 6, are immersed in the solution contained in the basin and are placed in contact with the plate 2 after the bicarbonate has been fully dissolved in the water.
