Abstract

A device for azimuth adjustment of a satellite antenna, the turning movement of which is limited in the vertical and horizontal direction, is characterized in an adjustment piece (1) bearing on a support (2) and an eccentric adjustment screw (3), the adjustment piece (1) comprising a hole (4) receiving a head (5) of the eccentric adjustment screw (3) and the support (2) comprising a groove (6) receiving a pin (7). The adjustment piece (1) can be turned with great accuracy with respect to the support (2) about an axis (8), the axis (8) being perpendicular to the contacting surface between the adjustment piece (1) and the support (2), by turning the adjustment screw (3) with respect to the adjustment piece (1). After the fine adjustment is carried out, the adjustment piece (1) is fixed to the support (2) by tightening a nut (9) on a threaded portion of the pin (7) of the adjustment screw (3).

Description

Mounting bracket
Field of the invention
The present invention relates to a device of the kind stated in the introduction of claim 1.
Background of the invention
Some antennas, e.g. satellite antennas, have to be adjusted relatively accurately, especially in the horizontal direc- tion, for optimal signal reception. This adjustment of small satellite antennas is usually carried out by means of screws, the screws being disposed such that the antenna either turns in the vertical or horizontal direction when the screws are turned, or the screws simply being used to fix a mounting piece already adjusted in other ways. A drawback with this way of adjusting the antenna is that the antenna tends to misadjust when the screws are tightened. Thus, the mechanical force that has to be applied in order to fix the antenna in the desired position is sufficient to misadjust it. The reason for this is that the tightening screws act in the same plane as the adjustment plane, and thus influences the antennas position as compared to the adjustment piane .
Objektive of the invention
The objective of the invention is to provide a device without the mentioned drawbacks while adjusting the antenna in the horizontal plane.
Short description of the invention
The objective of the invention is obtained by a device of the aforementioned kind, comprising an adjustment piece resting against a support and an eccentric adjustment screw, the adjustment piece comprising a hole receiving a head of the eccentric adjustment screw, and the support comprising a groove receiving a pin, the pin being eccentrically positioned on the head of the eccentric adjustment screw, the turning movement of said adjustment piece about an axis being limited with respect to the support, the axis being perpendicular to the contacting surface between the adjustment piece and the support.
Short description of the drawings
Fig. 1 shows an exploded view of an embodiment according to the invention,
Fig. 2 shows a vertical view of the embodiment in fig. 1, and
Fig. 3 shows the device in fig. 1 in combination with a back support for an antenna saucer.
Detailed description
Fig. 1 and 2 shows an embodiment of the device according to the invention comprising an adjustment piece 1, a support 2, and an eccentric adjustment screw 3. The adjustment piece 1 bears on the support 2, both being severed from re- spective profiles of aluminum alloy or the like. The adjustment piece 1 comprises a hole 4 receiving a head 5 of the eccentric adjustment screw 3. The support 2 comprises a groove 6 receiving a portion of a pin 7 positioned eccentrically on the adjustment screw 3. The turning movement of the adjustment piece 1 about an axis 8 is limited with respect to the support 2, the axis 8 being perpendicular to the contacting surface between the adjustment piece 1 and the support 2. The position between the adjustment piece 1 and the support 2 can be fixed by tightening the adjustment screw 3 by means of a nut 9 on a treaded portion of the pin 7.
In the shown embodiment, a cover plate 10 is provided between the adjustment piece 1 and the support 2. The cover plate is punched out of a preferably stainless steel material, and the groove 6 is sized according to the diameter of the pin 7, the size being of such accuracy that the pin 7 is received without sideways clearance, thereby preventing unwanted play during adjustment.
The adjustment in the vertical plane is in the shown embodiment carried out by means of a turn buckle 15 (fig. 3) known per se . The screws 16 are in the shown example used to fix the support 2 to a support column or the like (not shown) . As shown in fig. 2, the support 2 has an interior hollow space 13, receiving and fixing the support column or the like of the antenna.
When the device according to the invention is used, the support 2 on the support column or the like is first coarsely adjusted and fixed by means of screws or the like 16. The fine adjustment is carried out by turning the eccentric adjustment screw 3. Because the eccentric pin 7 of the screw 3 protrudes into the groove 6, the entire adjustment piece 1 is turned somewhat about the axis 8 when the head of the screw 5 is turned. In this manner the adjustment can be carried out in a very accurate way. When the adjustment piece 1 has reached the right azimuth position, the screw 3 is tightened by means of the nut 9. Because the tightening is carried out perpendicularly to the ad- justment plane, it will not influence the finely adjusted position.
An interiorly threaded nut or collar 11 for a bolt 12, the bolt 12 fixing the adjustment piece to the cover plate 10 and thereby with the support 2, is arranged concentrically with the axis 8 on the cover plate 10, whereby the cover plate 10 is fixed to the support.
