Abstract

L'invention concerne des peptides chimères utiles à des fins de diagnostic et de thérapie pour le VIH. Ils comprennent une séquence en boucle issue de la protéine du virus varicelle-zona et une ou plusieurs parties additionnelles qui améliorent la réactivité antigénique de la boucle vis-à-vis d'un anticorps anti-VIH. Généralement, les peptides ont une longueur d'au moins 16 acides aminés et, ce qui est avantageux, ils renferment des parties additionnelles qui ont une identité de séquence avec les séquences peptidiques qui sont adjacentes à une boucle de cystine de gp41 du VIH-1. Les peptides en question ont une activité immunologique croisée avec la protéine d'un large éventail de souches du VIH-2. Selon certaines variantes, les peptides considérés sont moins hydrophobes et plus basiques, ce qui permet d'améliorer leur solubilité dans l'eau par rapport aux peptides issus de souches de VIH d'origine naturelle. Lesdits peptides chimères diffèrent largement des séquences d'origine naturelle et ne sont pas identifiés comme correspondant à des espèces ou à des souches virales particulières.
