Abstract

A mechanism is described for cleaning wing mirrors of trucks, motor vehicles and similar vehicles when it rains, snows or during other difficult weather conditions with poor visibility. The working mechanism is automatic with a 12 or 24 V power supply. It has to be applied outside the driving compartment and fixed on the side of wing mirrors.

Title of the invention
"MIRROR-WIPER" for truck-motor vehicles and the like.
Disclosure of Invention
It is a semiautomatic mechanism for cleaning door mirrors of motor vehicles, lorries and the like. From the outside, the mechanism appears as a metal or plastic material cylindrical case with a slit all lengthwise; it can be of different sizes. The inside of the device and an electromotor placed on the base of the cylinder form the main part of the device itself. In fact, a multiple-pitch worm screw, directly fixed to the above-mentioned electromotor, is housed in the inside of the cylinder. A perforated smaller cylinder, whose inside has a thread of the same "pitch" as the screw, is connected with the screw itself. The threaded cylinder runs along the screw and supports the "MIRROR-WIPER" blade. The 12- or 24-volt electromotor besides being fixed to the screw and housed in the base of the outer cylinder as explained above, is also connected by means of an electric cable with a push button and a power supply (12- or 24-volt battery ) .
CONFIftMATION COPY -2-
2 microstops, which are connected with a relay, are positioned at the ends of the cylinder, thus stopping the motor once the threaded cylinder reaches the end of the outer cylinder. So by pushing the button the motor takes the electric pulse and starts working: the worm screw will turn round on itself thus letting the threaded cylinder run along its axis together with the mirror-wiper blade.
BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
This device has been conceived to improve visibility and safety while driving with rain.
It has to be mounted next to the external rear-view mirrors, both right and left, by means of proper clamps. The cable the invention is equipped with must be carried into the driver' s compartment by passing it through the door and connecting it with a pushbutton, which is to be fixed onto the dashboard and then connected with the vehicle battery. Each time the button is pushed, the external rear- window mirror are immediately cleaned.
