Description
Beschreibung description
The invention relates to an X-ray image intensifier with an input window comprising aluminum and a method for its production.
From EP 0 023 051 AI an X-ray image intensifier is known, the input window of which is made of aluminum or an aluminum alloy. The entrance window has a thickness of 0.5 mm to 1.5 mm. A luminous layer is applied to the surface of the input window facing the interior of the X-ray image intensifier. The luminescent layer consisting, for example, of CsJ must be applied to a surface that is as smooth and / or structurally homogeneous as possible in order to enable the CsJ seed layer to be formed uniformly, from which the CsJ column structure also grows uniformly. A uniform column structure of the CsJ luminescent layer is a good basis for being able to produce an X-ray image intensifier with good imaging properties.
The object of the present invention is to specify an input window of an X-ray image intensifier of the type mentioned at the outset and a method for its production in such a way that it has a surface that is as smooth and / or structurally homogeneous as possible.
The object is achieved by the subject matter of claim 1 and a method according to claim 8.
The advantage of the invention is that the entrance window consists of a composite of a first layer of an aluminum alloy and a second layer of high-purity aluminum. The 2 first layer ensures the strength of the entrance window against the negative pressure existing inside the X-ray image intensifier and the second layer ensures a smooth and structurally homogeneous surface even when a dome-shaped entrance window is formed.
It is advantageous if the first and second layers are each formed from a sheet and the sheets are rolled onto one another, as a result of which the production outlay is considerably reduced.
It has proven to be particularly favorable if the second layer has a thickness of 10 μm to 200 μm and / or the first and second layers together have a thickness of 1 mm to 2 mm. Sufficient strength of the input window against the negative pressure existing in the X-ray image intensifier is thus ensured.
It has proven to be advantageous if the first layer consists of AlMgSii or AlMg x , where X = 0.5 to 5 or in particular AlMg 3 .
In order to obtain a particularly good starting basis for good imaging properties of the X-ray image intensifier, it is advantageous if a luminous layer is applied directly to the second layer.
Further advantages and details of the invention result from the following description of an exemplary embodiment with reference to the drawing in conjunction with the subclaims.
In the exemplary embodiment of an input window of an X-ray image intensifier according to the invention shown in the figure, reference number 1 denotes a first layer and reference number 2 denotes a second layer. The first layer 1 preferably consists of an aluminum 3 alloy, for example made of AlMgSii or AlMg x , where X = 0.5 to 5, preferably made of AlMg 3 . The second layer 2 consists of soft pure or ultrapure aluminum with a degree of purity greater than 99%, preferably greater than 99.9%. For producing a composite those two layers 1,2 can for example, as sheets and drive in a first step Ver ¬ are preferably successively rolled. However, it is also possible to design the first layer 1 as a flat sheet or as a dome-shaped sheet and to apply the second layer 2 to it in one process step by means of an application process. The advantage of this combination with regard to the use in X-ray image intensifiers is that the first layer 1 establishes the strength of the input window of the X-ray image intensifier, whereas the second layer 2 has a smooth surface even after a dome has been formed, for example in a subsequent process step. guaranteed. The second layer 2 is located inside the X-ray image intensifier. A luminous layer 3 can then be applied to this second layer, which has a very smooth surface even after the dome has been formed, for example by deep drawing. A surface that is as smooth and / or structurally homogeneous as possible is required so that when the light-emitting layer 3, which consists, for example, of CsJ, is vapor-deposited, a uniform formation of the seed layer is made possible, from which a column structure also grows uniformly. In this sense, uniform means an almost defect-free or artifact-free column structure, which enables a high efficiency of the conversion of X-rays into light quanta as well as good imaging properties.
The invention is based on the knowledge that the use of, for example, only one sheet of aluminum alloy when forming a spherical cap, for example by deep drawing, guarantees a sufficiently high mechanical strength, but the hardening caused by deep drawing 4 surface shows an orange peel, ie it has bumps and is therefore not sufficiently smooth. Very smooth surfaces can also be obtained by using pure or high-purity aluminum when forming a spherical cap, but the mechanical strength is low, so that there is a risk of the spherical cap deforming or indenting.
As a result of the combination according to the invention of the composite of the first and second layers 1, 2, a smooth surface of the second layer 2 is obtained even when forming a spherical cap with sufficient strength of the entrance window caused by the first layer 1. In order to increase the surface quality, in a further process step, after the composite has been deformed, to increase the smoothness or to compensate for local defects, the second layer 2 can also be subjected to a finishing process, e.g. be subjected to mechanical, chemical or electrochemical polishing before the luminescent layer 3 is applied.
In the context of the invention, it has proven to be advantageous if the first and second layers 1, 2 together have a thickness of 1 mm to 2 mm, the thickness of the second layer 2, preferably in the range from 50 μm to 200 μm . The outer edge of the entrance window is particularly preferably connected to a ring 4 made of aluminum or an aluminum alloy, which in turn is connected to an intermediate ring 5 made of stainless steel by rolling or friction welding. The intermediate ring 5 is then, for example, connected to the stainless steel vessel 6 of the image intensifier housing, for example by welding.
