Abstract

The invention relates to a method for publishing news, advertising messages and similar data in which the data to be published is fed into a public data communications network (12), extracted from said network at the publishing location by means of a controllable query device (16), and is displayed on a monitor (20). A device which is used to carry out the inventive method comprises a first station (10) which is connected to the public data communications network (12) provided with means for storing data, and comprises at least one second station (14) which is connected to the data communications network (12). The inventive device also comprises a query device (16) for extracting data from the data communications network (12) and at least one monitor (20) for displaying the data extracted from the data communications network (12), whereby the query device (16) can be controlled by the first station or by a query program.

Zur Kombination der aus dem Datenkommunikationsnetz entnommenen Daten mit Daten aus einer weiteren Datenquelle kann der Monitor über eine mit der Ab- frageeinrichtung verbundene Monitorsteuerung angesteuert werden, die mit mindestens einer weiteren lokalen Datenquelle verbunden ist. Die Abfrageeinrichtung und die Monitorsteuerung können beispielsweise von einem PC gebildet sein, der auch die lokale Datenquelle enthalten kann. Auch die erste Station ihrerseits kann direkt mit einer mindestens einen Monitor steuernden Monitorsteuerung verbunden sein, um die Daten, die an das öffentliche Datenkommunikationsnetz gegeben werden, auch auf lokalen Anzeigegeräten darzustellen.
