Abstract

Description

Description
"PROCESS FOR THE IvLANUFACTURE OF PICTORIAL ART WORK
REPRODUCTIONS AND PRODUCTS OBT.AINED WITH THE PROCESS"
Technical field The present invention concerns the manufacture of products to be used for painting technique learning purposes, both as teaching means for fine .art students or as helping tool for .amateur painters.
The products obtained by the process of the invention allow candidate professional painters and amateur painters to practice painting technique and comp.are the results with the original art works of famous artists using the same painting materials.
Summary of invention
Therefore, the first object of this invention is a process to accurate reproducing in black and white art works of famous painters directly on painting canvas.
A second object of the invention .are the art works reproductions on painting canvas. Painting canvas is a priming layer coated canvas in which said priming layer is the pictorial layer carrier. Such priming material is well known in painting art and generally consists of a mixture of a white pigment, e.g. finely ground plaster, and an adhesive.
To obtain reproductions as much as possible conforming with the original ait works, a canvas will be employed having the same texture characteristics of the original one. Disclosure of invention
Black and white reproduction process of art painting works according to the invention comprises a) preparation of an off-set, silk-printing, lithography or digital xerographic matrix from a painting work color photograph and b) Black and white reproduction of the imagine on a painting canvas fed in continuous as a roll or separate sheets. 2
The matrix obtained from the color photograph can be an off-set. a serigraphy, a lithography or digital xerography matrix.
Photograph image can be subject to a scanning procedure, then the resulting scanned imagine can be elaborated to bring it to a desired size by using commercially available software as, for instance, Adobe Photoshop. The relevant file is then sent to a plotter to obtain a printed film or matrix which is reproducible by silk-printing or digital xerographic process.
The reproductions obtained in such a way can be assembled on a frame and commercialized together with a copy of the color photograph that has been employed in the reproduction manufacture. Attached to color photograph an information card can be provided reporting the characteristics of the original art-work (size, canvas kind, nature of the colors and so on). Detailed description of the invention An ex-ample of the embodiment of the present invention is described hereinbelow. EXAMPLE
A 18 x 15 cm color photograph of the Vincent Nan Gogh painting "Nase of sunflowers"' has been subject to a scanning process using a drum scanner connected to a Mclntosh personal computer provided with Adobe Photoshop software. By image elaborating its size was incre.ased to 40 x 50 cm. The imagine colors were transformed by the use of Adobe Photoshop into white to black tones passing through different gray tones. The resulting file was sent to a plotter in order to obtain a film to be used as a matrix for the printing in continuous on treated p.ainting canvas fed from a pile of separate canvas.
