Abstract
Cette invention se rapporte aux procédés de transformation de l'ammoniac dans des systèmes catalytiques à deux étages, et peut être utilisée dans la production d'acides nitrique et cyanhydrique et d'hydroxylaminesulfate. Cette invention concerne essentiellement un procédé de transformation de l'ammoniac qui consiste à faire passer un mélange gazeux d'ammoniac et d'un gaz contenant de l'oxygène à travers un système catalytique à deux étages. Dans le sens de progression du mélange gazeux, le premier étage consiste en une couche de matrices platinoïdes, tandis que le second étage consiste en une couche d'un catalyseur non platinoïde, oxyde et alvéolaire. Dans les flux de mélange gazeux circulant dans les canaux alvéolaires du catalyseur du second étage, on maintient un rapport entre la vitesse de fonctionnement moyenne et la vitesse du son dans ces conditions, qui varie de 4,8 x 10-4 à 0,024. Le premier étage permet de transformer de 86 à 97 % de la quantité totale d'ammoniac à traiter. On utilise en qualité de catalyseurs dans le premier et le second étages des compositions de catalyseurs choisies dans les séries suivantes. Pour le premier étage: une composition contenant 92,5 % de Pt, 4 % de Pd et 3,5 % de Rh; une composition contenant 81 % de Pt, 15 % de Pd, 3,5 % de Rh et 0,5 % de Ru; une composition contenant 92,5 % de Pt et 7,5 % de Rh; une composition contenant 95 % de Pt et 5 % de Rh; ou encore, un catalyseur et un sorbant de platinoïdes selon une composition contenant 95 % de Pd et 5 % de Ni. Pour le second étage: une composition contenant 92 % de Fe¿2?O3 et 8 % de Cr2O3; une composition contenant 89,5 % de Fe2O3, 5 % de ZrO2, 5 % de MgO et 0,5 % de ZrBaO; une composition contenant 79 % de Fe2O3, 20 % de Al2O3 et 1 % de MgO; une composition contenant 79,7 % de Fe2O3, 20 % de Al2O3 et 0,3 % de V2O5; ou encore, une pérovskite contenant 90 % de (Cao0,1Lao0,9MnO3), 8 % de Al2O3 et 2 % de SiO2.
