Definitions
- the present invention relates to an arrangement for a hutch for rabbits or other similar animals in the form of a grille construction.
- Hutches of the kind referred to are so arranged as to remain in the same place, where the hutch is positioned by the people who care for the rabbit, etc., in question.
- Previously disclosed rabbit hutches which exhibit a mesh bottom can be moved to new places once the grass on which they are positioned has been eaten. This would be a practical idea if the rabbit itself could move the hutch to new X ⁇ feeding grounds" and could exercise itself at the same time, instead of sitting still inside its small hutch.
- the principal object of the present invention is thus to make available a solution to, among other things, this problem of the grass being grazed within the area accessible to the rabbit in its hutch, and to enable the hutch to be transported easily and also used indoors as a conventional stationary rabbit hutch.
- Fig. 1 shows a perspective view of a rabbit hutch in accordance with the invention and in a stationary position
- Fig. 2 shows the hutch m a "grazing" position out of doors
- FIG. 3 shows a variant of the invention with a screened-off, detachable "bedroom”
- Fig. 4 shows the "bedroom” m its detached position
- Fig. 5 shows the hutch with a flap carrying a water container m its hmged-down position
- Fig. 6 shows the hutch and a box frame adapted to the hutch separated from one another
- Figs. 7-8 show the hutch m accordance with the first embodiment with a flap m the receiving position for a rabbit out of doors.
- An arrangement 1 for a hutch 2 for rabbits 3 or other similar animals consists of a hutch 2, which is formed from a grille construction exhibiting round circumferential form m at least one direction enabling it to roll easily on a base 4, preferably m the form of a lawn; see Fig. 2.
- the envelope surface 5 of the hutch is formed by a large number of wires 6, rods or tubes, etc., extending between pairs of end walls 7, 8 situated at a mutual distance from one another.
- Said hutch 2 is so arranged as to be capable of being accommodated m a box frame 9, m which the hutch 2 can be placed for stationary use, for example indoors.
- the hutch 2 may exhibit an appropriately screened-off space 10, known as a "rabbit bedroom", to which the animal 3 itself is able to gain access and to be protected therein from the sun 11 and the rain 12.
- Said space may be formed by a separate house 10 so arranged as to be detachably attachable to one end wall 7 of the hutch provided with a hole on its outside 7A by means of appropriate connecting devices 13.
- a manually operated knob 13A which exhibits a stop 13B, may be mounted on the end wall 7 in such a way that it is capable of being accommodated with its stop 13B engaged m a matching recess 13C m the house 10, as illustrated m Figs. 3-4 for example, m so doing making contact with a part of the house 10 to hold it securely.
- Hook devices 14 of a previously disclosed kind may be provided at the bottom, between the house 10 and the end wall 7, to hold the house 10 securely at the bottom, too. The animal itself is thus able to move from the remaining area 15 of the hutch and to remain protected and undisturbed inside the house 10 if necessary.
- Said house 10 which is open to the hutch 2, is shown here as a square structure, although it may, of course, exhibit any desired form.
- One of the end walls 8 of the hutch can also be provided with a flap 16 capable of being closed by means of a knob, etc., which is preferably capable of pivoting on a hinge 17.
- a ladder 18, for example in the form of a number of transverse bars 18A, can be arranged on the inside of the flap to make it easier for the rabbit 3, etc., when it is to pass through the opening 19 in the end wall 8.
- Said flap 16 can support on its inside a water container 20, which is mounted via an articulation 21 to enable it to rotate m line with the rotation of the said hutch, so that the rabbit 3, etc., can have access to water.
- the rabbit 3 itself can move the hutch 2 by clambering over the wires 6, thereby causing the hutch to roll, so that it can new green grazing areas unassisted.
- a floor 22 may be arranged along part of the circumference of the hutch at a level 21 above the envelope surface of the hutch. Said floor is preferably so arranged as to be formed by a number of ribs 22A extending m the longitudinal direction 23 of the hutch and displaced at a mutual distance from one another.
- a handle 24 is provided on one side of the hutch, preferably m the form of an opening extending through a bar 25, which m turn extends between the end walls 7, 8 of the hutch, whereby the fingers of one hand can be inserted simply into the opening allowing the hutch 2 to be lifted easily.
- the wires 6 of the hutch can be formed by a continuous mat of parallel wires 6, which extend like a ladder between the edge strips 26, 27 of the mat, and eacn of the edge strips of the mat, which preferably consist of metal or plastic material, is bent around existing circular end wall discs 7, 8, preferably two m number, and is attached thereto around the entire circumference of the end walls, for example by means of nails, screws or staples, etc. This permits simple manufacturing of the hutch 2.
- Said hutch-accommodatmg box frame 9 is open at the top and has a rectangular matching shape enabling it to accommodate the hutch 2 standing steadily m the box frame 9.
- a hutch 2 with a box frame 9 of the kind descrioed m accordance with the invention is simple with regard tc both its manufacture and use, although the invention is not restricted to what is described above and illustrated m the drawings, but may be modified within the scope of the Patent Claims without departing from the idea of invention.
