CONTAINER WITH HERMETIC SEAL FOR COSMETIC PRODUCTS AND THE
LIKE
Technical field
The present invention relates to a container with hermetic seal for cosmetic products and the like. More particularly, the invention relates to a container of the compact type with a hermetic seal for cosmetic products such as powder, blusher, cream makeup base, eyeshadow and the like. Background art
It is known that cosmetic products, such as for example powder, blusher, cream makeup base and the like, are marketed in containers known as compacts, which are constituted by a base element suitable to contain the product and any accessories for applying it and by a lid element which is hinged to the base element.
Said containers are often arranged in displays in direct contact with the public, where the customer helps himself/herself and can choose the product that he/she wants .
Containers of the compact type are generally made of plastics and have a closure which is entrusted to a retention tooth formed on the lid or on the base and which engages a corresponding notch defined on the element of the container that lies opposite to the one whereon the tooth is provided.
This type of closure, usually of the snap type, ensures optimum closure of the container but does not offer a hermetic seal.
The above-described cosmetic products to be inserted
in compact-type containers are used in contact with the skin; accordingly, they must be preserved as long as possible in the initial conditions without altering.
An even partial loss of volatile substances can be detrimental to the preservation of the product, impairing its characteristics and cosmetic properties.
The current trend is accordingly to try to provide containers which have optimum sealing features, but this has not been possible with closures purely of the tooth type .
Disclosure of the Invention
The aim of the present invention is to provide a container for cosmetic products which is hermetic.
Within the scope of this aim, an object of the present invention is to provide a container for cosmetic products in which the obtainable hermetic seal is ideal for preserving the product contained therein,
Another object of the present invention is to provide a container for cosmetic products in which the hermetic seal is obtained without additional elements besides the base and the lid hinged thereto, which constitute the container.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a container for cosmetic products with hermetic seal which can be manufactured easily. This aim, these objects and others which will become apparent hereinafter are achieved by a container with hermetic seal for cosmetic products and the like, comprising a base element whereto a lid element is hinged, both elements having complementary snap closure means,
characterized in that said base element has at least one elastically compressible element which is formed monolithically with said base element and abuts during closure against the lower side of said lid element in order to form a hermetic compression seal between said base element and said lid element. Brief Description of the Drawings
Further characteristics and advantages of the present invention will become apparent from the following detailed description of an embodiment according to the invention, illustrated only by way of non-limitative example in the accompanying drawings, wherein:
Figure 1 is a partial sectional side elevation view of a container with hermetic seal according to the present invention; and Figure 2 is a partial sectional side elevation view of a container with hermetic seal according to the invention, taken at the point of mutual hinging between the cover and the lid. Ways of carrying out the Invention
With reference to the above figures, the container according to the invention comprises a base element 1 whereto a lid element 2 is hinged by means of a hinge 3.
In the base element 1 there is at least one elastically compressible element which is formed monolithically with the base element 1 and abuts, during closure, against the lower side of the lid element in order to provide a hermetic compression seal between the base element 1 and the lid element 2.
Advantageously, the elastically compressible element
is constituted by a ridge 4 which protrudes from the base element 1 with a portion 5 having a rounded profile.
The rounded portion 5 of the ridge 4 runs along all of the perimeter of the base element 1 and abuts during closure against the lower side of the lid element 2.
The ridge 4 is internally hollow in order to give elasticity to the protruding portion 5 and runs from the upper surface of the base element 1 to its bottom surface. The lateral edge of the base element 1 is blended, along a circular arc, with one of the walls of the hollow ridge 4, while the bottom surface of said base element 1 is blended with the other one of the walls of the hollow ridge 4.
The internal profile of the hollow ridge 4 and the width of the ridge (in addition to the dimensions of the protruding portion 5) are chosen according to the degree of tightness to be obtained and therefore according to the degree of compressibility to be obtained from the protruding portion 5. in practice it has been observed that the container for cosmetic products according to the invention fully achieves the intended aim, since it allows to preserve the product contained therein by way of its hermetic characteristics . The profile of the hollow ridge substantially determines the degree of elasticity and compressibility that can be obtained by closing the lid element onto the base element, in order to provide a hermetic seal which is substantially ideal for the type of product contained in the container.
In practice, the materials employed, so long as they are compatible with the specific use, as well as the dimensions, may be any according to requirements and to the state of the art.
