Abstract
Description
Device for receiving and sending video messages, from
Voice messages and text messages The invention relates to a device for sending and receiving video messages, voice messages and text messages sent via a telecommunications network.
For example, a videophone system is known from prior art EP 0 666 693 A1, which is composed of a PC workstation, a keyboard or mouse, a screen, a camera and an interface circuit for adaptation. In such a system, an image is sent to the matching circuit via an ISDN line, from which it is transmitted to the PC via a corresponding matching line and displayed there on the associated screen. An on-screen camera takes a picture of the
User on, gives this directly to the SchnnstellenAdaptation and transmits this in turn via the ISDN line to another participant. Such a
Videophone system thus combines a videophone device with a conventional PC.
The disadvantage of such a system is that the entire PC always has to be switched on to be ready for operation, and that the system is implemented in a relatively complex manner. Also, only an immediate display of a video call is possible, so no recording is possible.
Furthermore, a patent application JP 3-201649 is known from the prior art, in which a video answering machine is explained in more detail. Such a videophone system is used to answer an incoming call when the user is not present. A message received in this way is recorded, and at the same time a message is sent to the sending subscriber that this message is only being recorded. With such a system, however, it is necessary for both the sending and the receiving participant to have devices that are ready to receive.
Accordingly, it is the object of the present invention to create a device for sending and receiving video messages, which is composed of simple means and is also able to process further messages of other formats. A further object of the invention is to design the device in such a way that the messages can be recorded even if the subscriber does not accept them personally.
According to the invention, this is achieved by the teaching of claim 1.
It proves advantageous here, on such a device for sending and receiving video messages other messages z. B. come from the Internet, can be displayed. Different image standards can also be displayed using this device. It follows that such a system is advantageously not only capable of displaying images of one standard, but also capable of displaying images of another standard. It also proves to be advantageous that in the function as an image answering machine, a received image is stored in one data format and can be output again via the monitor in any other data format.
Further advantageous configurations can be found in claims 2 to 10.
The configuration according to patent claim 4, in which information can be added to a stored video message, proves to be a particular advantage. It is thus possible for a later querying user to find out exactly when this message was recorded, how long it lasted and on which day it was recorded.
According to patent claim 5, it proves to be particularly advantageous that a subscriber at a certain predetermined location can be informed about the receipt of a video message in his device located at his home location, for example. Thus, he is able to retrieve his video message at any time.
In an advantageous embodiment of patent claim 8, a video message can be edited and forwarded to other participants, ie comments can be added. These comments can be added in the form of a text message or an additional video message.
According to patent claim 9, it results in an advantageous manner that a conventional television set can be connected and the video message can be played back on it.
The invention is explained in more detail below using an exemplary embodiment and the figure. The following figure shows figure: Schematic representation of a device for receiving and sending video messages, voice messages and text messages.
A device for receiving and sending video messages, voice messages and text messages has an interface S for adapting the device to a telecommunications network. Such a telecommunications network N is, for example, the ISDN network. The device is connected to the network N, referred to below as the ISDN network, via the interface S.
A standard interface S can be used for this. This interface S is further connected to a network interface L1 for adapting the device to messages sent and received at different transmission rates. This network interface contains, for example, a modem which the
Device enabled to process different data transmission rates, ie up to several Kbit / s. For example, such a modem is in the
Able to process transmission rates as they occur on the Internet. In another
Configuration can this modem in the form of a digital interface according to the
ISDN standards be trained.
Furthermore, an interface circuit 5 for voltage supply is provided in the device with the interface S for adapting the device and the network interface L1 for adapting the device. This can be in the form of a battery, for example, so that a device for receiving and sending video messages is always ready for use.
Furthermore, the device for receiving and sending can be equipped with a camera C for recording a video message in order to record a video message directly itself. This camera C can be integrated into the device. However, the camera can also consist of a conventional camera and can be connected to the device for receiving and sending video messages via a plug-in device. Furthermore, the device for receiving and sending video messages has a screen MON for displaying a video message and for displaying a text message.
Furthermore, the device for receiving and sending a video message is composed of a loudspeaker L and a microphone M for recording and playing back a voice message or the language assigned to a video or text message. This loudspeaker L and the microphone M can be in the form of a receiver.
Storage means MEM for storing the received video message in the device for receiving and sending video messages are provided for storing an incoming video message that is to be played back later.
Means Z1 are also provided for adding information to the stored video message. For example, the time, the date, the length of the message and other information are added to the stored video message by means of these means.
Also provided in the device are means MA for storing a location of the recipient. In these means MA for storing the location, the number of the current location of the recipient is stored or is available as a list from which the number is then selected to, upon receipt of a video message, a voice or text message to the location of the recipient about the presence of the video message to send a message. Accordingly, a recipient is informed at all times whether a message has been sent for him.
The device also contains a coder/decoder CO/DE for converting an H.261-coded image into an MPEG-coded image and vice versa.
This coder/decoder DO/DE is generally designed in such a way that it converts an encoded image of a first standard into an encoded image of a further standard. Here, implementations of the H.320 standard in an MPEG standard or similar standards are also possible. The following sequence is conceivable here: An H.261-coded image is present, with the H.261-coded image being able to be present in two different image formats. This is sent to a decoder, which transforms the image back to the image level. Then, the image thus decoded is applied to an MPEG encoder, which MPEG-encodes the image. MPEG has a variety of image formats. Such a procedure is also possible in the opposite direction. It is important to note that the refresh rate for MPEG is firmly defined.
It has proven to be advantageous here that a receiving device does not necessarily have to be compatible with a transmitting device in terms of image format.
Additional editing means ED are present in the device for editing a video message. In this case, for example, a text message is recorded in addition to the video message or a comment is added by means of a text message.
Parts of the message can also be cut out in order to then forward them.
Since the specified means for converting an image from a first standard to another standard can also be used to ensure playback on a television set, the device has an interface TV-S for connecting a television set to display the video message on the same.
It is also important in the present invention that the network interface L1 adapts to text messages of the Internet type and to voice messages from the telecommunications network, the ISDN network. As a result, the network interface L1 enables the device for receiving and sending a video message, a voice message and a text message to send and receive both text messages from the Internet and voice messages via the telecommunications network, or rather the ISDN network .
When using the device to receive and send video messages, voice messages and text messages, the following usage can be imagined: the device receives a video message, stores it and registers the presence of a video message. A recipient is informed of the existence of the message by being sent an e-mail over the Internet. In the future, it is also conceivable that the video message can be forwarded to a recipient via the video transmission feature over the Internet.
