Abstract

The invention relates to a bus system for a digital communications network, comprising a bus (1), said bus consisting of several groups of lines for transmitting digital signals, several interfaces for linking access units to the bus, and at least one control unit (8) for controlling the transmission of signals between the control unit (8) and the linked access units, or between the linked access units (8, 9). Each interface is equipped for linking both an ST access unit (3) which transmits data in synchronous transfer mode and an AT access unit (2) which transmits data in asynchronous transfer mode. A first group of lines (13) is provided for transmitting data within pulse frames of a fixed length, made up of time slots. Said pulse frames are each subdivided into a first container for transmitting data in synchronous transfer mode and a second container for transmitting data in asynchronous transfer mode.
