Abstract

The invention relates to a telecommunications system comprising terminals (TE) which can be connected thereto, for example telephones, said terminals being configurable in terms of their capacity characteristics and/or the capacity characteristics of the telecommunications network (T), and a configuration server (S) for processing the configuration of the terminals, i.e. setting, querying and/or changing the configuration. The configuration server (S) accepts commands given by the user, by telephone for example, processes them and based on this input transmits signals for processing the configuration to the relevant terminal (TE). The configuration of the terminal (TE) is processed by means of signals which are sent to said terminal (TE) via a connection in the telecommunications network (T).
