Abstract

Cette invention se rapporte à une passerelle mandataire de protocole de communication, qui permet à un réseau CEBus (bus d'électronique grand public) d'être mis en correspondance par mappage avec un réseau non-CEBus, pour qu'un noeud distant (par exemple un contrôleur) puisse communiquer via un réseau non-CEBus avec des dispositifs électroniques connectés au réseau CEBus tout en se conformant aux conditions du protocole EIA/IS-60. Dans un mode de réalisation préféré, un noeud mandataire est prévu sur un réseau CEBus, ce noeud mandataire étant également connecté à un réseau non-CEBus (par exemple un réseau étendu 'WAN'), pour qu'un contrôleur distant sur le réseau non-CEBus puisse communiquer avec un dispositif du réseau CEBus en transmettant des messages aux noeuds mandataires via le réseau non-CEBus. Le noeud mandataire achemine ensuite les messages au dispositif CEBus correspondant via le réseau CEBus. Si le message demande une réponse par message du type accusé de réception CEBus, alors le dispositif CEBus transmet un message du type accusé de réception CEBus au noeud mandataire, pour que le message soit reçut dans l'intervalle de temps spécifié par la norme CEBus. En recevant le message accusé de réception CEBus, le noeud mandataire transmet au contrôleur un message accusé de réception standard non-CEBus, qui peut être reçu dans un intervalle de temps prolongé. Si le message ne demande pas une réponse par message accusé de réception CEBus, alors le noeud mandataire transmet quand même un message accusé de réception standard non-CEBus au contrôleur, afin de vérifier la réception du message.
