Cable distribution cabinet
TECHNICAL FIELD
The present invention relates to an enclosure, intended for distribution networks for electric power, for switching equipment of the kind described in the preamble to claim 1. More particularly, the invention relates to a cable distribution cabinet to which can be connected an electric cable for current supply of a temporary current consumer.
BACKGROUND ART
An enclosure, for example a cable distribution cabinet, is primarily a means of protection against unintentional contact with live parts. The enclosure prevents, under certain conditions, the penetration of water, moisture and dust. The degree of protection of the enclosure is regulated in the IEC publication No. 529. The degree is stated in enclosure classes, for example IP 44. The first digit indicates protection against solid objects and the second digit indicates protection against water. Normally, in connection with cable distribution cabinets, a class of protection is aimed at which provides protection against the penetration of solid objects larger than 1 mm.
A conventional cable distribution cabinet is arranged as a closed box with one or more openings provided with doors and is manufactured of steel sheet which has been hot-galvanized. The doors are usually provided with a locking device and may be detachably journalled in an optional side of the respective opening. The cabinets usually comprise rivet nuts provided in the sides to enable marking rods, other cable distribution cabinets or the like to be assembled together. In each side, a flange opening is normally arranged for temporary terminals or for being able to make protective connections between two cabinets .

a portion which may cover the opening. When connecting a temporary current consumer, there is placed behind the opening that hole configuration in the cover which is adapted for the cable being used, whereupon the cover is locked to the inside of the side member. The cable may then be passed through the opening and be connected with satisfactory protection against contact. When disconnecting the temporary current consumer, the cover may be restored in a simple manner to its original tight design. According to the invention, the cover is preferably arranged so as to be rotatable behind the opening and lockable by means of a wing nut. The cover then also comprises tensile-stress relieving means and, when passing cables through, may also be arranged with cable fittings.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
The invention will be explained in greater detail by description of an embodiment with reference to the accompanying drawing, wherein
Figure 1 shows a three-dimensional picture of an enclosure according to the invention,
Figure 2 shows a plan view of a cover arranged in the enclosure, and
Figure 3 shows a side view of the cover.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
An enclosure according to the invention is shown in Figure 1. The enclosure comprises a rear part 1, a top part 2, a first side 3 and a second side 4. In addition, the enclosure comprises a door (not shown) and a bottom part (not shown) . All the parts for the enclosure are made of a metallic material such as steel sheet. Since the enclosure is intended also for outdoor use, it is hot-galvanized. In the sides 3, 4 an upper rivet nut 5 and a lower rivet nut 6 are arranged.

the large hole. The two punched-out portions 15, 16 are arranged with their longitudinal directions coinciding with a radius which extends from the centre of rotation 10 of the cover 8 and which passes through the centre of the large hole 13. When the contact is connected, the cover 8 is turned in either direction such that, between any of the punched-out portions 15, 16 of the large hole 13 and the reception opening 7, a feedthrough suited for the temporarily connected cable is arranged. Also here, it is possible to utilize the ears for tensile-stress relief.
When disconnecting the temporarily connected cable, the cable is drawn out through the used hole. After that, the cover 8 is turned back to its original position and is locked with the wing nut 9. To facilitate this operation and ensure full coverage of the feeder opening, the embossment 14 of the cover is adapted to fit into the feeder opening. Thus, when the fitter turns the cover 8, the embossment 14 will penetrate into the feeder opening 7 and automatically indicate the completely closing position of the cover.
Although advantageous, the invention is not limited to comprise one cover only. One or a plurality of covers may be arranged, with equally good function, behind the opening; also, a disc may be elongated and adapted to be displaced in a linear movement. Also a sealing member of the iris diaphragm type, which is an integral part in cameras, is thus comprised within the scope of the invention. Embossment and the provision of holes in the cover may also be carried out in a manner suitable for the application.
