Abstract
The invention relates to a system for permanently fastening a safety chain or string onto the arm of eyeglasses. The system prevents the string from slipping while allowing the arm to be placed with ease around the contour of the ear. The part (2) is crimped one-thirds of the way along the length of the arm, and is prevented from slipping by a steel cable of 8/10 in diameter, used as a crimp for the part (2) and having a tensile strength of eighteen kilograms. The part consists of a base (2) crimped by a cable onto the arm of the eyeglasses. The crimping is effected with a special multi-purpose clamp. Parts (2 and 4) are independent of one another and are joined by a screw system. The user can therefore change the string or chain as desired, for reasons of style or wear and tear of the string or chain. The system disclosed in the invention is especially intended for use in fastening strings or chains onto the frames of prescription eyeglasses or sunglasses.
Description
C/ Outillage nécessaire au sertissage de la pièce maîtresse du système.C / Tools required for crimping the centerpiece of the system.
This system was created to overcome the drawbacks of attaching chains and cords by a DIY which consists in using an O-ring with a tightening ring secured to the main part which is the cord or chain. By this new concept, we consider three very distinct parts: the definitive and discreet fixing of a fastener forming a body with the branches of glasses, the fixing of the cord or chain and the tools for crimping.
AJ La fixation définitive de l'accrochage du cordon.AJ The definitive fixing of the hanging of the cord.
This fixation has two parts. a) A stainless steel cable with a resistance of 20 kg which surrounds the branch and crimped by a steel tube under a pressure of 120 kg.
This male part fixed on the branch is threaded and receives the bell which accompanies the ends of the cords or chains. Also by this process, the user can change the cord (have different colors or materials) or switch from the metal chain to the silk or leather cord.
C / Tooling: consists of a crimping press and a lever for tensioning the cable before crimping.
