  • a conventional trolley child seat 40 is mounted on one of the end side walls 34.
  • a handle 42 is removably mounted on the same end side wall 34.
  • a liner 44 is provided slidingly locatable within the storage means 14 when erect, and of the same general profile.
  • the trolley 10 can be used in an erect condition as shown in Fig. 1. If it is wished to collapse the trolley 10, the liner 44 can be removed. This may be of foldable material and/or have a foldable construction.
  • the storage means 14 can be collapsed by removing the clips 36 from the respective side walls 34, and folding the side walls 34 about the hinges 38 to rest upon the floor 32.
  • the handle 42 can be removed if required.
  • the basket 30 can be removed from the base 12, and the latter collapsed as follows.
  • the sleeves 26 are slid up the legs 16 to permit the latter to pivot about the arrangements 24 such that the upper parts of the leg 16 lie on the lower parts thereof, with the storage means 14 located immediately above the base 12. This permits the trolley 10 to adopt a quite compact condition.
  • the trolley 10 can obviously be erected by reversing the above steps.
  • Fig. 4 shows a trolley 46 with a base 48 and storage means 50.
  • the legs 52 are pivotally mounted on the underside of the storage means 50 and locatable over upstanding projections 54 on the base 48 and secured thereover with pins (not shown) extendable through aligned holes 56 in the projections 54 and legs 52.
  • Pivotal stop formations 58 on the underside of the storage means 50 restrain the pivotal movement of the legs 52 to the appropriate portion for location over the projections 54.
  • Fig. 5 shows a trolley 60 with a base 62 and storage means 64.
  • Rigid legs 66 extend between the base 62 and storage means 64, and are removably mounted on each to be removable to permit collapse of the trolley 60.
  • the storage means 64 is similar to the storage means 14 except that a transverse pivotal arrangement 68 extends substantially centrally across each side wall of the storage means 64 such that when the storage means is collapsed, as well as pivoting relative to the floor of the storage means 64, the side walls fold upon themselves as shown diagrammatically by dotted lines in Fig. 5.
  • Fig. 6 shows a further alternative storage means 70 wherein upright generally central pivotal arrangements 72 are provided in the end walls of the storage means 70.
  • the floor (not shown) of the storage means will be arranged so as to be disconnectable from one of the side walls and pivotally mounted to the other so as to be able to fold against the side walls when the storage means 70 is collapsed.
  • Pivotal legs 74 are shown pivoted against the storage means 70.
  • the end walls are again pivotally connected to the other side walls such that the storage means can fold into a flat condition.
  • Means are provided for locking the respective walls and parts of walls.
  • a trolley 80 comprises two assemblies, an upper assembly 82 and a lower assembly 84.
  • the upper assembly 82 comprises a floor 86 and two side walls 88a,b attached along opposite edges 90a,b respectively of the floor 86.
  • the side walls 88a,b are pivotally attached about hinges 92a,b respectively to be pivotally movable between a one condition in which the side walls extend upward from the floor 86 (Figs. 7, 8 and 10), and another folded condition (Fig. 9) in which the side walls 88a,b lie substantially on the floor 86.
  • Hooks 94a,b are provided on opposite edges of each side wall 88a,b, which edges diverge in a direction away from the floor 86.
  • Similar hooks 96 are provided on opposite ends of the floor for engagement with the lower assembly 84 as will be described.
  • the lower assembly 82 comprises a base 98 comprising four wheels 100 disposed at each corner thereof.
  • a wheel lock 100 is provided on one wheel to prevent unauthorised rolling movement of the trolley 80.
  • a side wall member 106a,b extends between respective pairs of legs 102 across respective ends of the base 98, to be movable between a first condition in which the legs 102 and side members 106a,b lie generally on the base (Fig. 9) and a second condition in which the legs 102 and side members 106a,b extend upward from the base in a configuration to receive the said upper assembly 82 when in the said one condition for inter-engagement to define the storage means therebetween, as will be described.
  • Handle means 108 may be provided along the upper edge of one side wall member 106a.
  • Hook receiving formations 110a,b are provided on respective edges of each side wall member 106a,b to receive the hook formations 94a,b in the upper assembly 82.
  • the trolley 80 is movable between a collapsed condition (Fig. 9) to an erected condition (Fig. 8).
  • the side wall members 106a,b are folded down to lie flat onto the base 98.
  • the side walls 88a,b are folded flat onto the floor 86, so that its upper assembly can be placed against the base 98 or the upper side wall member 106a,b for storage and ready transportation.
  • the trolley 80 occupies relatively httle space and is therefore easily stored.
  • the trolley is readily transported, for example to a supermarket or shop for use.
  • the assemblies 82,84 are parted and the side walls 88a,b are pivoted to extend upward from the floor 86 to be generally mutually parallel.
  • the side wall members 106a,b are pivoted to extend upward from the base 98 to generally diverge in an upward direction generally to the angle of divergence of the edges of the side walls 88a,b.
  • the upper assembly 82 is then lowered over and down onto the lower assembly 84 to locate between the side wall members 106a,b until the hooks 94a,b locate in the respective hook receiving formations 110a,b and the hooks 96 engage over a cross-member of the respective side wall members 106a,b.

  • This comprises a child seat 112 which is locatable in the receptacle of the trolley 80.
  • the child seat comprises a seating platform 114 comprising a base and a back support, and a laterally extending support bar 116 which is of corresponding width to the width of the trolley 80, and comprises hook formations 118 on each end thereof which hook formations locate over the upper edge of the side walls of the trolley 80.
  • a further hook formation 120 is provided on the front edge of the platform 114, whereby to removably fix the seat 112 in position.
  • a safety harness 122 may be provided to secure the child in the seat. It will be appreciated that the weight of the child helps to secure the seat 112 in position.
  • each providing a collapsible trolley which could readily be owned by an individual rather than for instance a supermarket.
  • the trolleys all collapse readily easily and can thus be conveniently transported and stored by individuals, for instance to and from a supermarket. All of the trolleys are of relatively straightforward construction and can thus be robustly and inexpensively manufactured.
  • a lid may be provided for selective cover of contents of the trolley.
  • a lid may comprise a part of the upper storage means and detachably or pivotally attached thereto, may be a part of the inner liner or may be a separate component.
  • a wheel lock may be provided to substantially prevent rotation of the wheels, desirably at least one front and one rear wheel whereby to substantially immobilise the trolley to prevent unauthorised wheeled movement.
  • any combination of the features outlined in the described embodiments could be combined.
  • Other methods could be used for mounting the legs to the base and/or storage means.
  • a different collapse arrangement could be provided for the storage means.

Abstract

Un chariot (10) comprend une base au contact du sol (12) et un moyen de rangement (14). Le moyen de rangement (14) est séparé de la base par plusieurs jambes (16).
