Abstract
The moulding sand mixture consists of 40 to 90 wt % quartz, 5 to 20 wt % active binder clay, 2 to 8 wt % water and at least 2 wt % carbon-containing solid matter. The carbon-containing solid matter is added to the mixture totally or partially by means of an aqueous solution having carbon-containing solid matter. The aqueous solution contains preferably 20 to 80 wt % carbon-containing solid matter.
Description
Verfahren zum Herstellen eines Formsandes für Gießereizwecke Process for producing molding sand for foundry purposes
Beschreibungdescription
The invention relates to a process for producing a molding sand for foundry purposes, in which case a water-containing mixture is formed which consists of 40 to 90% by weight of quartz, 5 to 20% by weight of active binder clay, 2 to 8% by weight. % consists of water and at least 2% by weight of carbon-containing solids.
Shaped sands of this type are known and z. B. described in EP-A-0 549 547 and DE-A-24 19 229. Carbon-containing solids are introduced into the molding sand mixture so that shiny carbon forms on the metal surface during casting, which causes the metal surface to be smoothed. According to EP-A-0 549 547, the molding sand is mixed with fatty acids or fatty acid derivatives, and in the process of DE-A-24 19 229, polyurethane is added to the molding sand. The invention has for its object to produce molding sand in a simple and inexpensive manner. In the process mentioned at the outset, this is achieved by introducing part or all of the newly added carbon-containing solids into the mixture by means of an aqueous suspension. The molding sand mixture is usually conducted in a circulatory system. The aqueous suspension expediently contains a suspending agent which prevents the solids from settling and at the same time has a dispersing action.
B.Coal dust can be used as carbon-containing solids; it is also possible to use solid hydrocarbons, e.g. B.
Add hydrocarbon resins, natural asphalt, pitch or bitumen to the suspension. The suspension can also with other carbon-forming substances such as. B. vegetable oil or latex-based products.
As a suspending agent such. B. polysaccharides, bentonite, starch, starch derivatives or cellulose in question. In addition to the suspending agent, wetting agents or electrolytes can also be added to improve the dispersion of the solids.
10 Gew.-% Bentonit anreichern, da Bentonit ebenfalls als Suspendiermittel wirkt .It is advisable to prepare and keep the aqueous suspension separately. The content of carbon-containing solids in the aqueous suspension is in the range from 20 to 80% by weight and mostly 40 to 60% by weight. The suspending agents are usually added to the aqueous suspension at a content of 0.1 to 4% by weight. You can see the suspension with 0, 1 to Enrich 10% by weight bentonite, since bentonite also acts as a suspending agent.
It is not a problem to prepare the aqueous suspension and to store it over a longer period of time. No special containers are required for this; the aqueous suspension is not a product which is dangerous for the environment, and furthermore the suspension can be metered easily and precisely when producing the molding sand.
The finished molding sand consists of 40 to 90% by weight of quartz, usually a considerable proportion of molding sand that has already been used is reused. With this old sand, it is not a problem that the grains have a shell made of burnt bentonite. The finished molding sand also contains 5 to 20% by weight of active binder clay, usually in the form of bentonite. When the bentonite is burnt to death due to the high temperatures during the casting process, it no longer acts as an active binding clay. However, the reused used sand can easily contain 2 to 30% by weight of still-burned bentonite.
