Description

ACCESSORY FOR ROLLER SKATES WITH LONGITUDINALLY ALIGNED WHEELS
This invention relates to an accessory for roller skates with longitudinally aligned wheels Roller skates are known consisting of a boot to which there is applied a substantially inverted U-shaped frame, on the flanges of which there are mounted a plurality of pivot pins for hard plastic wheels
In addition to the normal activity of skating on roads, one of the preferred pastimes of the expert is to skate along the handrail of stairways. In performing this, the skater generally rests one of the boot sole portions, external to the frame, on the handrail and rests the other skate transversely to the handrail on an arched portion provided in the lower edge of its flanges
A drawback of this sporting practice is that with the passage of time the boot wears down at the sole, making it practically unserviceable To this there must be added the fact that the sole has a high friction coefficient which makes it difficult to slide along the handrail
These drawbacks are eliminated according to the invention through an accessory for roller skates with longitudinally aligned wheels as described in claim 1 The present invention is further clarified hereinafter with reference to the accompanying drawings in which-
Figure 1 is a perspective view of an accessory according to the invention,
Figure 2 is a side view thereof applied to a boot; and
Figure 3 is a view thereof from below. As can be seen from the figures, the accessory according to the invention consists of a half-oversole 2 formed of rigid plastic material such as an acetal resin, for example DELRIN<R), which on polished wood or metal surfaces presents a low friction coefficient Said half-oversole 2 comprises a lateral nm 4 the profile of which substantially follows the contour of the sole 8 of the boot 6 to which the half-oversole 2 is applied, and also comprises a curved appendix 10 for engagement with the front edge 12 of one of the flanges 14 of the skate 16
The skate is a traditional roller skate consisting of an iπverted-U frame 18 comprising a plurality of pivot pins 20 for longitudinally aligned wheels 22
In correspondence with the rear end of the sole, the lateral surface of the boot 6 comprises a rib 23 which engages in a corresponding groove 25 provided in the half-oversole
Besides being secured at the appendix 10 and being engaged with the rib, the accessory is also fixed to the boot 6 and its rear raised nm by screws (not shown on the drawings) which engage in the boot shell In the central region between the wheels 22, the edge of the rrame flanges comprises a concave portion 24 for engaging the handrail
From the aforegoing it is apparent that the accessory according to the invention presents numerous advantages, and in particular
- it protects the boot sole against wear, - it can be easily replaced if worn without requiring the aid of specialized personnel or special tools,
- it can be replaced by another of different rigidity and/or roughness,
- it can give the boot a pleasing outer appearance by being formed in particular chromatic colours and/or by carrying personalized writing
