Description

VACUUM ATTACHMENT
Technical field
The present invention relates to the field of attachments which are arranged to be attached by means of vacuum to smooth, compact surfaces of the tile, enamel, or glass type, smooth plastic surfaces, etc.
Background of the invention The invention relates to the above-mentioned field, more particularly for the attachment of bathroom details or kitchen details to tile. The details are of the holder type for hand shower, mugs, towels, paper rolls, handles, shower rails, etc. The said holders were hitherto attached by drilling, plugging and screwing in tile for attachment, meaning that the underlayer is destroyed so that there is a risk of water entering into the wall .
Further, it is previously known to attach, by means of vacuum attachments of the present type, a note pad to the inner surface of the windscreen of a vehicle. With these previously known attachments there is provided a vacuum against che windscreen by passing a lever between two positions, the lever thereby tightening a plastic or rubber plate by means of an eccentric. This method of producing a vacuum for the holder does not provide sufficient tensional force against the underlayer and the holder therefore cannot support bigger loads than, for example, a note pad.
Obπect of the invention
The object of the invention is to provide a vacuum attachment which solves the problems of previously known attachments. No tools are required and the holder is easily moved for comfortable access without any damage to the underlayer appearing. Through the design of the tightening device, if required, the attachment is also attachable in the conventional way, i.e. by drilling, plugging and screwing Summary of the invention
The present invention comprises a vacuum attach¬ ment, the vacuum of which is provided by means of the screw- and-nut-principle, i.e. an expansion means in the form of a screw, attached in the normal direction in the centre of a circular expansion plate and extending through a support, is tightened by a tightening device in the form of a nut pulling the plate against the lower edge of the support by threading the nut onto the screw and tightening it against the upper surface of the support. By this design, there is provided a tightening length defined by the length of thread engagement of the screw, giving a considerable vacuum effect .
Short description of the drawings
The invention will now be explained with reference numbers in connection with the drawings, in which
Figure 1 is a side view showing an embodiment of the invention, Figure 2 is a top view of the embodiment of Figure
1,
Figure 3 is a section, taken on the line A-A, through the embodiment of Figure 1, and
Figure 4 is a possible configuration of a tighten- ing device according to the invention.
Description of the invention
The vacuum attachment includes an expansion plate 1 abutting against the periphery of the underside of a support 2 of rotation symmetrical shape. An expansion means 3 extends from the expansion plate 1 through a substantially rectangular hole 4, see Figure 2, in the upper surface 5 of the support 2. The hole 4 is made such that the expansion means 3 is secured against rotation relative to the support 2 by an adaptation in shape between the hole 4 and the expansion means 3. The fact that the hole 4 is "substan¬ tially rectangular" means that the hole 4 is shaped like the sector of a circle at its short sides 6 in order to be adapted to the screw shape of the expansion means 3. The expansion means, in the form of a screw, is provided with plane parallell sides to hereby prevent rotation in the rectangular hole.
The expansion means 3 is embedded in the expansion plate 1 by means of a draw plate 7, see Figure 3. The expan¬ sion plate 1 contacts the lower edge periphery 8 of the support 2. The expansion means 3, in the form of a screw the pitch of which is adapted to the required tensile force, is attached in the normal direction in the centre of the cir¬ cular expansion plate 1 and extends through the upper sur¬ face 5 of the support 2.
A vacuum effect is achieved by pulling the expan- sion means 3 upwards through the upper surface 5 of the support by means of a tightening device 9 in the form of a nut. The expansion plate 1 is hereby pulled against the lower edge of the support in that the nut is threaded onto the screw and is tightened against the upper surface 2 of the support 2.
The tightening device 9 shown in Figure 4, apart from being a tightening means, is also a detail holder for tubular details such as shower rails, paper holders, soap shelf and towel rails. A variety of other embodiments of the detail holder of the tightening device allows suspension of varying types of hand showers and other details. Here, however, only one type of tightening device/detail holder is shown.
The tightening device 9 shown in Figure 4 is pro- vided with a connection thread 10 corresponding to the expansion means 3. The tightening device 9 is provided with a cylinder portion 11 oriented at an angle of 90° to the connection thread 10. Further, the cylinder portion 11 is provided with a tapped hole 12 for a stop screw. The tightening device 9 is also provided with a mounting hole 13 for optional conventional fastening with screws of the entire attachment. A mounting screw is hereby attached through a lead-through hole 14 in the cylinder portion 11 of the tightening device 9.
