Description

TRANSFORMER "TAFFI" FOR CLOTHES DESIGN (VARIANTS)
TECHNICAL FIELD
The invention relates to clothing industry and can be used for creation of exclusive models meeting the re¬ quirements of haute couture, clothes for shows, variety, concert or theater performances, cinema or photo shoo¬ ting, balls and carnivals, head-dresses. The invention can be used also for creation of both evening and every¬ day clothes and also for development game.
BACKGROUND ART
In the prior art an article of clothing is known, e.g., a bathing suit, comprising a single strip made of a length of fabric (US Patent No. 4176408, cl. A41D 7/00, 1979) .
This solution allows generation of a limited number of models although it provides the ease of fabrication. A set of modules for forming clothing models is also known of which one is constructed as a skirt, the second comprises a strip of a length of fabric and the third is a belt piece (US Patent No. 3008147, cl. A41D15/00, 1961) This solution also provides generation of only a limited number of models and requires considerable time for cutting and sewing the first module.
The known "Set of modules for forming clothing models" (RU Patent No. 205147 cl.A41D15/00, 1995) has been taken as the closest analogue.
The known set of modules for forming clothes models includes at least three modules, one comprising a strip of a length of fabric, the second comprising a plate with a through hole and a slit extending from the edge of the hole to the outer edge of the plate to constitute two adjacent sections movable relative to each other to enclose the head or a part of the body, and the third module comprising a strip with tucks spaced along it.
This solution allows generation of plurality of clothing models but only by means of combination of at least three modules.
DISCLOSURE OF INVENTION
It is an object of this invention to provide a transformer "TAFFI" for clothes design in the form of a single transformable construction which enables genera¬ tion of an unlimited number of models and at the same time facilitates the process of its fabrication and which is also a base for a game aimed at development of clothes design skills.
To attain this object, a transformer "TAFFI" for clothes design is provided comprising a module in the form of a strip of a length of fabric wherein said strip has tucks or gathers placed along its top edge through¬ out its length, and wherein the module is complemented by at least one strip of a length of fabric also having tucks or gathers throughout its length, the additional strip being longer or shorter than the length of the module strip and being attached thereto either over its entire length or with skips in the middle of the strip thus forming, together with the module strip, a single transformable construction, and wherein, if the length of the additional strip is shorter than the length of the module strip, tucks or gathers are made also along the bottom edge of the latter over its entire length in the same sense as the tucks or gathers along the top edge of the module strip or in the sense opposite to them, and all additional strips included in the module or any of the strips have an insert or plurality of inserts each made to an arbitrary shape, the top edge and the side edges of the module strip as well as the side edges of the additional strips attached to each other and to the module strip being stretched lengthwise so that they form a single straight line independent of the number of additional strips and inserts of arbitrary shapes. Further, to attain the object of invention, in a transformer "TAFFI" for clothes design comprising a module in the form of a strip of a length of fabric, both edges of the module strip throughout its length are provided with a rigid base in the form of a metal frame, the strip being freely movable along this base, and the module can be complemented by at least one additional strip of a length of fabric with a rigid base along its edges throughout its length which is attached to the module strip either over its entire length or with skips in the middle of the strip to form, together with the module strip, a single transformable construction, each of the strips being freely movable along its rigid base over the unattached areas.
Realization of the transformer "TAFFI" for clothes design as a single transformable construction enables generation of an unlimited number of versions of articles (models of clothes, head dresses, accessories) as well as various details of interior decorations and design developments. Further, usage of such a trans- former to produce a new version of an article eliminates traditional cutting and sewing operations greatly faci¬ litating the process of fabrication.
Further, the proposed construction of the trans¬ former "TAFFI" allows easy, in a matter of minutes, transformation of one clothing model into another, e.g., an actor on the stage can change for another model without taking off his clothes.
The proposed construction of the transformer "TAFFI" comprising one or more additional strips with outer edges of various shapes obtained by means of arbitrarily shaped inserts produces an effect of plurality of folds and curves offering greater possibilities in creation of new clothing models. Provision of tucks on the strips made in forward or reverse direction as well as their interchange creates an additional effect such as light-and-shade play, volume increase or reduction imparting particular re¬ finement and uniqueness to the model. Using the transformer "TAFFI" as a developing game for children enables them to increase their creative potential and to acquire professional skills in the field of clothes design by rapidly embodying their fantasies.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS
In describing the invention, reference will be made to the accompanying drawings in which: Fig. 1 (a, b, c, d, e, f) shows versions of the transformer "TAFFI" without inserts in additional strips and with inserts of arbitrary shapes;
Fig. 2 shows a version of the transformer "TAFFI" provided with a rigid base along the module strip; Fig. 3 (a, b, c) illustrates the sequence of forming a clothing model from the transformer "TAFFI" without a rigid base;
Fig. 4 (a, b, c, d) illustrates the sequence of forming a clothing model from the transformer "TAFFI" with a rigid base along the edges of the module strip; Fig. 5, 6, 7 present versions of clothing models made of the transformer "TAFFI";
Fig. 8 (a, b) illustrates the sequence of forming a model of a head-dress from the transformer "TAFFI"; Fig. 9, 10 present versions of hair dress models made of the transformer "TAFFI".
The transformer "TAFFI" consists of a module 1 comprising a strip of a length of fabric and at least one additional strip 2 of a length of fabric attached to the module strip 1. The strips 1 and 2 have tucks or gathers 3 over their entire length, and the strips 2 have also an insert or plurality of inserts 4 of an arbitrary shape. To finish the design, the transformer may be provided with edging 5 along its top edge stretched into a straight line. The inserts 4 may be made of the same fabric as the transformer itself or of a different fabric to give original character to the model,. Fig. 2 shows a construction of the transformer
"TAFFI" consisting of a module 1 comprising a strip of a length of fabric the edges of which are provided with a rigid base 6 in the form of a metal frame. The module strip 1 freely moving along the base 6 forms gathers 7.
BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
A preferred mode of forming an article of clothing from the transformer "TAFFI" will now be described, the transformer consisting of a module strip 1 and two ad¬ ditional strips 2 (Fig. 3a, b, c).
One end of the transformer "TAFFI" is fixed on a human body at the waist line on the back; then the free end of the transformer is wound around the waist and brought to the back at the shoulder level (Fig. 3a).
Then the free end of the transformer is wound around the body at the neck level (Fig. 3b) and passed across the other shoulder to the back where it is attached fixedly to the opposite end of the transformer at the waist of the body (Fig. 3c) .
The transformer "TAFFI" may be made of variously textured fabrics, braids or laces as well as of leather or suede. The more numerous are strips 2 completing the module 1 and inserts 4 in these strips, the smarter appear models, versions of which are shown in Fig. 5, 6 and 7. Width and length of the strips 1 and 2 depend on the size of the human figure.
Fig. 4(a, b, c, d) illustrates the process of for- ming a garment model from the transformer "TAFFI" con¬ sisting of a module 1 comprising a strip of a length of fabric provided with a rigid base 6 in the form of a metal frame along the strip edges throughout its length. Forming a garment model of this transformer begins with a puffed sleeve formed by shifting a required length of the strip 1 along the rigid base 6 (Fig. 4a); then the free end of the transformer is brought to the back of the waist of the body and returned diagonally to the same shoulder to fix the sleeve. Then the strip 1 is wound in a spiral from the top down on the human figure forming the base of the garment model (Fig. 4b, c). After forming the base of the model, flounces at the bottom of the base are formed by shifting a required length of the strip 1 along the rigid base 6. Upon for- ming flounces, the strip 1 is wound in a spiral from bottom upwards on the human body to the waist where the free end of the transformer is attached fixedly to the opposite end of the transformer (Fig.4d). This const¬ ruction of the transformer provided with a rigid base 6 imparts additional rigidity to the transformer and of¬ fers further potentialities for transformation.
Fig. 8(a, b) shows the sequence of forming a head- -dress from the transformer "TAFFI" consisting of a module 1 and an additional strip 2. One end of the transformer is fixed on the back of the head and the free end is laid in a spiral forming the desired model of a head-dress; thereafter the free end is attached fixedly to the opposite end of the transformer.
INDUSTRIAL APPLICABILITY
Thus, the transformer "TAFFI" is a single trans¬ formable construction which allows to solve the problem of creation of an unlimited number of versions of articles and extremely facilitates the process of creation of models.
It is not improbable that the proposed transformer can be used for design developments as well as for forming various details of interior decorations and doll clothing.
The transformer "TAFFI" can find extensive use as a developing game for stimulation of creative potential and development of professional skills in the field of clothing design; it can also serve as a basis for teaching programs in this field.
