Abstract

A table tennis racket consists of a racket blade (1) and a handle joined thereto. The handle is formed of a handle piece (2) integral with the racket blade and two moulded pieces (4) joined to the handle piece. In order to make the racket handle lighter, which will increase the reactivity of the player when using the table tennis racket and which also will change the center of gravity toward the blade, the handle piece (2) as well as the moulded piece (4) have recesses (3, 5) so formed along the handle that a longitudinal cavity will be formed along at least a part of the handle. The cavity is filled with an agent, which exerts a pressure outwards in all directions.

Description

TABLE TENNIS RACKET
This invention relates to a table tenns racket consisting of a racket blade and a handle fastened to the racket blade, whereat the handle is formed of a handle piece integral with the racket blade and two moulded pieces joined with the handle piece.
The object of the invention is to make the racket handle lighter, which will increase the reactivity of the player when using the table tennis racket and which also will change the center of gravity towards the blade, which is an advantage for the player's skillness. It should thereby be noted that the weight of the racket is not raised but that the weight distribution will be changed.
In order to achieve this object the invention is characterized according to what is stated in the enclosed claims.
An embodiment of the invention will be described in the following with reference to the enclosed drawings.
Fig. 1 is hereby a plan view of the racket blade with the integral handle piece.
Fig. 2 is a plan view of one of the two identical moulded pieces.
Fig. 3 is a longitudinal section through the moulded piece in fig. 2.
Fig. 4 is a cross section according the line IV-IV in fig. 2.
The table tennis racket according to the invention consists of a blade 1 and an integral handle piece 2. As shown in fig. 1, a recess 3 has been cut out from the handle piece 2. The recess 3 extends preferably along all the length of the handle piece 2. The handle is completed by that one moulded piece 4 is fastened to each side of the handle piece 2. The moulded pieces 4 may be combined by several parts and be made from any suitable material. Each of the moulded pieces has a recess or depression 5 in the side which contacts the handle piece, which depression mainly coincides with the recess 3. When thus the handle is made up of the handle piece 2 and the two moulded pieces a cavity will be formed within the completed handle by that the two depressions 5 and the recess 3 coincides. The weight of the handle will thus be diminished and the center of gravity will be displaced outwards on the racket blade.
Preferably a whole 6 is made in each of the moulded pieces 4 through which hole the cavity 5 in the handle can be observed. Two holes can be arranged in this way so that it is possible to look through the handle. The hole may be covered by a plate on which a trademark announcement or the similar can be printed.
Instead of the hole 6 or in addition to this hole a further hole can be made in the end of the handle so that it is possible to look straight into the handle and also this hole can be covered by a plate. This later hole is not shown m the drawings.
A further improvement can be made in that the depressions 3 and the recess 5 are very large meaning that the left material of the moulded pieces and of the handle piece respectively will be very thin.
The formed cavity in the handle can be filled with an agent which exerts a pressure and this will increase the rigidity and crush resistance of the handle. This agent may e.g. be plastic which is supplied to the cavity and is allowed to foam within the cavity. The expansion of the plastic within the cavity and thereby its pressure against the inside of the moulded piece can be controlled so that the pressure can resist a certain pressure against the outside of the moulded piece, that is to say against the outside of the handle. Another possible means for increasing the inside pressure is a blister, which is inserted in the cavity and is inflated by a suitable gas.
