Abstract
An examination bench for medical, chirurgical and similar purposes, comprises a stand (10) and a lying disc (11) supported thereby. The stand comprises two portions (10A, 10B), viz. a lowermost portion (10A) resting on the floor, and an uppermost portion (10B) supported by said lowermost portion in a manner to permit lifting and lowering thereof, wherein the mechanism is designed in a manner to permit the lying disc to be adjusted into a position with its uppermost surface at a height of from about 450 mm above the floor up to a height of the order of about 1000 mm above the floor. The lowermost portion (10A) of the stand, at one end thereof, is provided with two wheels (13, 14) to permit rolling on the floor, while it has, at the other end thereof, two support feet (15, 16) slightly spaced transversely of the bench, so as to permit setting down the bench on the floor while preventing unallowed movements.
Description
An examination bench for medical, chirurgical and similar purposes.
The present invention relates to an examination bench for medical, chirurgical and similar purposes.
The object of the invention has been to provide an examination bench which is simple and comparatively inexpensive to manufacture and which is easy to use, but which despite its simplicity exhibits a high stability and reliability.
To the just mentioned end the examination bench according to the invention is characterized essentially in that its stand comprises two portions, viz. a lowermost portion, resting on the floor, and an uppermost stand portion carried by the lowermost portion in a manner to permit lifting and lowering of said uppermost stand portion, wherein the mechanism is designed in such a manner that the lying disc of the bench is adjustable as desired with the uppermost surface thereof situated at a height of from about 450 mm above the floor to a height of the order of about 1000 mm above the floor, and in that the lowermost stand portion, at one end thereof, is provided with two wheels to permit rolling on the floor whereas it has, at the other end thereof, two supporting feet sligtly spaced transversely of the bench, to permit standing of the bench on the floor while unallowed movements of the bench are prevented.
The invention will be disclosed in more details below with reference to the accompanying drawing, wherein is illustrated one embodiment of the examination bench according to the invention, picked as an example.
Fig. 1 is a side-view of the examination bench;
Fig. 2 is an end-view of the examination bench;
Fig. 3 is a plan-view of the lowermost stand portion of the examination bench.
The examination bench illustrated as an example has a stand 10, comprising a lowermost stand portion 10A and an uppermost stand portion 10B which last mentioned stand portion 10B may be elevated and lowered in relation to the lowermost stand portion 10A. The uppermost stand portion 10B which carries a usual lying disc 11, in the instant case divided in a suitable manner longitudinally of the bench m two portions, is caned by the lowermost stand portion 10A through a suitable parallelogram mechanism, generally denoted 12, m a manner to permit lifting and lowering of the uppermost stand portion. The lifting and lowering motions are brought about by means of a suitable positioning device, comprising, for instance, an electric motor which may turn a worm-screw. The mechanism is designed in such a manner that the upper surface of the lying disc 11 may be adjusted to any desired height above the floor surface, between about 450 mm above the surface (the ordinary seat height of e.g. a wheel chair is about 500 mm) and up to e.g. 950 mm above the floor surface. Thus, it will be very easy to transfer a patient from a wheel chair or the like to the laying disc 11, and then elevate the last mentioned one to a suitable height for examination of the patient.
In the embodiment shown the examination table is provided with two wheels 13, 14 at one end of the lowermost stand portion 10A, which may be fixed to run parallel to each other or which each aay be turnable around a vertical axis. At its other end the lowermost portion of the examination bench is provided with two support feet, which are slightly spaced transversely of the bench. It should be realized that it is possible, by lifting the bench at the "foot" -end thereof, to easily move the bench to any desired position with the wheels 13, 14 rolling on the floor. Then, when the" foot"-end has been set down, standing on the floor, the examination bench will be standing firmly, with no risk for unallowed movements.
At least one of the two portions of the laying disc is movable in relation to the stand, so that the portions may be set in a desired inclined position, wherein they may be retained by means of so called gas springs (not shown).
Claims
1. An examination bench for medical, chirurgical and similar purposes, comprising a stand (10) and a lying disc (11) supported thereby, characterized in that the stand comprises two portions (10A, 10B), viz. a lowermost portion (10A) resting on the floor, and an uppermost portion (10B) supported by said lowermost portion in a manner to permit lifting and lowering thereof, wherein the mechanism is designed m a manner to permitthe lying disc to be adjusted into a position with it uppermost surface at a height of from about 450 mm above the floor up to a height of the order of about 1000 mm above the floor, and in that the lowermost portion (10A) of the stand, at one end thereof, is provided with two
wheels (13, 14) to permit rolling on the floor, while it has, at the other end thereof, two support feet (15, 16) slightly spac3ed transversely of the bench, so as to permit setting down the bench on the floor while preventing unallowed movements.
2. An examination bench as claimed m claim 1, characterized m that the wheels (13, 14) at one end of the lowermost stand portion are each turnnable into different angular positions around a vertical axis.
