Abstract

A tool (1a) with adjustable hinged handles, particularly adjustable pliers, consisting of a first, central handle (3a) pivotably mounted between two walls (4) of a second, supporting handle (2a) by a hinge means. The hinge means consists of a spherical member (6) translatably movable relative to one of the two handles and rotatably movable relative to the other handle. The outer surface of said member includes a helical screw thread (15) engaging at least one rack (13a) on one of the handles (3a). The tool may be used as adjustable pliers, particularly gripping pliers.
