Abstract
A device for separating the foundations of a construction from the construction itself. The device provides non-negligible damping of seismic oscillation and consists of a structural platform (A) supporting the construction (B), a sufficient number of suitably distributed suspension systems (C) to support the weight of the whole construction, and posts (D) secured to base plates (E). The suspension systems (C) are freely arranged inside a tapering space, and the finished ground level (F) is irrelevant. The device is particularly suitable for detached houses in earthquake zones.
