Abstract

Cette invention concerne une imprimante couleur à grande vitesse pouvant être utilisée dans un environnement bureautique, et tout particulièrement en tant qu'imprimante branchée sur un réseau. Cette imprimante possède une grande vitesse (environ 74 pages à la minute / 37 pages recto-verso à la minute) et une haute résolution d'impression (800 dpi), et consiste en une imprimante en couleurs pures comprenant un système de collation électronique et une capacité de stockage local d'au moins 1000 pages à tracé matriciel. Cette invention fait appel aux progrès réalisés en matière de têtes d'impression à largeur de page à haute résolution et de type gouttes à la demande. Cette invention concerne également un nouveau système incorporé de compression d'images et d'expansion en temps réel pour la collation électronique et le stockage local de documents. La résolution de l'image et la qualité de la compression sont définies de manière à obtenir une qualité d'image comparable à celle obtenue lors de l'impression courante de brochures et magazines à l'aide de presses offset couleur. Un système industriel d'impression couleur à grande vitesse fait appel à un dispositif de rouleau continu, et possède une vitesse d'impression d'environ 148 pages de format A4 à la minute, un système de collation électronique, ainsi qu'une capacité de stockage d'au moins 1000 pages.
