Abstract

A lid (1) for a box (2) and a box (2) provided with a lid (1). The box is intended for keeping bread spread which is to be spread with a spreading means (4). The lid (1) has a removable part (5) which when removed leaves an opening (3) through which the spreading means (4) can be pushed.

Description

Box lid and box
This invention relates to a lid for a box intended for keeping bread spread which is to be spread with a knife. The invention also relates to a box provided with such a lid.
Margarine, butter and various fatty mixtures and other spreads for spreading on bread are usually packaged for sales in a box provided with an opening lid. In this box, the spread can be kept in the refrigerator and also be served in the same box with its lid opened.
A problem with these previously known boxes is that after use and after the box is closed, there is no place for the knife used for spreading. The knife may be put away to be washed or alternatively placed unwashed in the refrigerator on top of the box for reuse, but from there it will fall off very easily. Rubbish and hair will of course stick to the fatty knife fallen down on the floor, and it cannot then be reused without being washed. And when falling down on the floor or even on a shelf in the refrigerator, the fatty knife will stain places.
A box lid and a box in accordance with this invention are characterized in that the lid has a removable part which when removed leaves an opening through which the spreading knife can be pushed.
The opening in the lid according to the invention is easily opened and thus a place is formed for the knife where it will stay well in place when the box is kept in the refrigerator.
When the box is put on the table the next time, the knife is pulled out of the opening and the lid is removed from the box.
When selling spread in a box of this kind, a suitable wooden spreading knife may be attached to the box as a give¬ away during a sales promotion campaign, for example.
The invention is described in greater detail in the following, referring to the enclosed drawing wherein
Figure 1 is a top view of a box lid according to the invention with the opening in the lid opened; and
Figure 2 is a cross-section A-A of Figure 1 with the lid on a box and with the opening in the lid closed; Figure 3 is the same view as Figure 2 with a knife pushe through the opened opening in the lid;
Figure 4 is a top view of another alternative of the bo lid according to the invention with the opening in the li opened; and
Figure 5 is a cross-section A'-A' of Figure 4 with th knife pushed through the opened opening in the lid.
Lid 1 is preferably made of plastic, and for example, b vacuum drawing. Box 2 may be of cardboard, for example. Th lid has an opening 3 which can be opened for a spreading knif
4.
Opening 3 can be formed so that its outlines in the lid ar thinner than the other part or they may be perforated, whereb the opening is opened by pushing the knife through the lid. Alternatively, the opening is already in the plastic li and covered by a covering strip 5 glued on top of it. Th covering strip may be aluminium foil, for example. One end o the strip has a part 6 without glue for gripping. Part 6 ma be folded over on top of the remaining part of the coverin strip 5. The opening is opened by gripping the loose end 6 o the covering strip 5 and by tearing the covering strip awa from the lid.
Figures 4 and 5 show an alternative embodiment of th invention. In this version, opening 3 begins from the side o lid 1 and extends towards the central part.
The opening can also be left unopened in the lid, whereb the same box may be reused when reguired, for example, as deep-freeze box.
