Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a dual- purpose flushing device for a WC pan, designed to reduce the amount of flush water used. Normally, the flushing of a WC pan takes 4 -
  • the object of the invention is to eliminate the drawbacks referred to above.
  • a special object of the invention is to produce a new type of flushing device for a WC pan that enables the volume of flush water to be adjusted in a simple and reliable manner as actually needed.
  • the flushing device of the invention comprises a first pull element connected to the bottom valve and a second pull element, which function together.
  • the second pull element is provided with an engaging element and a release element, so that the second pull element can move the first pull element through a certain distance, i.e. the valve can be opened to a certain degree, which is still less than opening the valve completely.
  • the first pull element is relased from engagement with the second pull element and returns the valve to a closing position regadless of the movements of the second pull element after the release.
  • the device is preferably provided with two flush knobs placed one on top of the other so that, by pulling at the upper knob, a small volume of flush water is used even if the knob is pulled through a long distance, and by pulling at the lower knob, both knobs are lifted all the way up and a larger amount of flush water is used.
  • the flushing device of the invention has significant advantages as compared to previously known technology.
  • the two separate and clearly visible flush knobs always remind the user about the amount of flush water needed in each case, and since the flushing can be done just as easily and quickly in both cases, all will be able to learn the correct way of flushing to reduce water consumption.
  • the amount of water consumed in cases of minor flushing needs - and these include most of the times a WC is used - is reduced from 4 - 7 litres to about two litres, the consumption of water for the flushing of WC pans can be reduced to clearly less than half the current consumption.
  • FIG. 1 presents the flushing device of the invention, sectioned and viewed from two different angles.
  • Fig. 2 presents the second pull element of the flushing device in Fig. 1, seen from two different angles, and
  • Fig. 3 presents the first pull element of the flushing device in Fig. 1, seen from two different angles.
  • the flushing device of the invention as presented by the drawing comprises a tubular supporting sleeve 1 which can be fixed e.g. to the cover of the water container and/or to the frame structure of the valve. Inside the supporting sleeve 1 is a tubular or sleevelike first pull element 2 whose upper end extends above the supporting sleeve 1, forming a flush knob 7. At the lower end of the first pull element there is a transverse pin 4.
  • An elongated and barlike second pull element 3 is placed inside the first pull element 2, and the second pull element 3 extends above the first pull element, forming a flush knob 8.
  • the lower end of the first pull element 2 is shaped as a hooklike bifurcated gripping device 6 with two hooks facing towards each other, which, due to the flexibility of the structure, remain in the position shown in Fig. 2, i.e. with the hooklike parts of the gripping device partially overlapping, without the application of an external force.
  • an aperture 13 through which the pin 4 in the first pull element 2 extends when in the rest position.
  • the first pull element 2 is also provided with a longitudinal slot 10 extending upwards from its lower edge, in which the pin 11 can move in different vertical positions of the pull element 3.
  • the second pull element 3 is provided with pinlike limiters 9 designed to prevent the pull element 3 from being pulled out completely from inside the first pull element.
  • the flushing device of the invention presented in the drawings works as follows.
  • the first pull element 7 being suitably attached or linked to the bottom valve, the bottom valve always rises as the first pull element 2 is lifted. If a small volume of flush water is desired, only the upper flush knob 8 is lifted, causing the gripping devices 6 to engage the transverse pin 4. Thus, by pulling at knob 8, the first pull element 2 is also lifted. However, if one only pulls by knob 8, transverse pin 11 moves in aperture 15 and hits the stop faces 14 of the hooklike devices and is thrust into the gap between the stop faces 14.
