Abstract
Multifiber interconnection element for optic fiber cables including two cylindrical complementary elements (21, 22) with optic fibers belonging to multifiber cables (24) to be connected, abutted to the same. Each one of said complementary elements (21, 22) shows outside a longitudinal notch (28) at least, having shape and sized similar to the shape and size of a corresponding longitudinal slide (81) obtained on the internal surface of a coupling bush (23). These complementary elements (21, 22) are inserted for reciprocal coupling inside this bush (23) with the relevant front contact parts (27) turned one against the other.
Claims
1. Interconnection element for multifiber optic cables of the type including:
- a first and a second complementary cylindrical portion (21, 22), heaving a longitudinal internal cavity where said fibers to be interconnected are abutted;
- a sleave (23) consisting of a cylindrical body, hollow inside, able to receive said complementary cylindrical portions (21, 22);
- matching means suitable to realise fibers alignment,
characterised in that said matching means to perform fibers alignment include at least a longitudinal notch (28) in the form of a first flat surface obtained on the external face of said complementary cylindrical portions (21, 22) and a corresponding notch (81) in the form of a second flat surface obtained on the internal face of said sieave (23).
2. Element according to claim 1, characterised in that said internal cavity
(36) of said complementary cylindrical portions Including at least a part consisting of a third flat surface (37) which results being parallel to said first flat surface (28) foreseen on the external face of the relevant cylindrical portion (21 or 22); being said fibers (24) rested on said third flat surface (37) and there fixed by means of a fixing plate (38) heaving on one of the two faces longitudinal V grooves (81) for the housing and alignment of said optic fibers (24).
3. Element according to claim 1, characterised in that each one of said cylindrical portions (21, 22) hollow inside are filled, coinciding to the front contact part (27) of said optic fibers (24), of fixing material (39) softer than the material optic fibers are made.
4. Element according to claim 1, characterised in that the lateral surface of said sleave (23) has a longitudinal slot (84).

6. Element according to claim 4, characterised in that said longitudinal slot (84) Is an helical shaped slot.
7 Element according to claim 1, characterised in that said sleave (23) is phosphorous bronze made,
8. Element according to claim 1, characterised in that said sleave (23) is zirconia made.
9. Element according to claim 3, characterised in that said fixing material (39) is argentana.
10. Element according to claim 2, characterised in that said fixing plate (38) is semiconductor material made.
11. Element according to claim 1, characterised in that said front contact parts (27) of said complementary cylindrical portions (21, 22) have size essentially lower than cross sizes of said complementary elements.
12. Element according to claim 1, characterised in that said front contact parts (27) of said complementary cylindrical portions (21, 22) has flat shape and a light sloping.
13. Element according to claim 12, characterised in that said light sloping is 8° slope.
14. Element acoording to claim 1, characterised in that said front contact parts (27) of said complementary cylindrical portions (21, 22) are rounded.
15. Element according to claim 1, characterised in that said longitudinal internal cavity of said complementary cylindrical portions has a flaring (25) with flat and rectangular shape.
16. Element according to claim 2, characterized in that said fixing plate (38) has a plurality of "V" shaped grooves, each one able to receive a corresponding fiber of said multifiber optic cable STATEMENT UNDER ARTICLE 19
The claim 1 has been amended and replaces claim 1 and 2 as originally filed to take into account US-A-4.898.449 which sets forth a connector including two cylindrical coupling elements and a connector housing.
The preamble of the amended claim 1 reciting now the features of the present application common to US-A-4.898.449.
