Abstract
An Industrial Gas Cylinder Regulator Guard is a box body that fits over an industrial gas cylinder and is designed to protect the regulator that is connected to the cylinder. It is releasably secured to the cylinder by either bolts or clamps (3). A door (1) is provided for easy access to the cylinder key and regulator. Three strengthening plates (4) centralise and locate the guard over the cylinder. A gap (2) in the main body is provided at either side of the frame to allow access for the hose and flashback arrester so as not to prevent work being carried out. The whole frame (4 and 5) is surrounded by strong steel expamet metal so as to give all round protection and good all round vision.
Description
I DUSTRIAL GAS CYLINDER REGULATOR GUARD
This invention relates to an Industrial Gas Cylinder Regulator Guard
Industrial Gas Cylinder Regulators are connected to the appropriate industrial gas cylinder and they regulate the flow of gas from the cylinder to the end user. They comprise of gas tight seals, springs, minor gauges, irreplaceable threads, gas inlet and outlets. They are connected to the outlet of the Industrial Cylinder by the use of a left hand or right hand thread. Connected to the Regulator is a Flashback Arrestor and from there the correct hose.
When the bottle is opened gas passes into the Regulator and the pressure is set on the gauge and this is the pressure to be used by user.
Regulators are, however, relatively expensive, moreover if they are damaged dangerous conditions such as explosions can occur causing death and damage and also a damaged regulator can prevent work being carried out.
According the present invention there is provided an Industrial Gas Cylinder Regulator Guard comprising a box body. Means for releasably securing the guard from the gas cylinder. A door which is lockable for easy access to cylinder key and regulator. Strengthening plates to locate and centralise the guard on the cylinder and add more rigidity to the guard. Strong steel expamet metal for excellent protection and complete all round vision. There is also a gap on one side of the guard which allows the Flashback Arrestor and hose access to the regulator without restricting the hose.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which:-
Fig. 1 Shows Industrial Gas Cylinder Regulator Guard mounted on a cylinder with the front door open.
Fig. 2 Shows Industrial Gas Cylinder Regulator Guard mounted on cylinder with hose exiting from the guard via the safety gap.
Referring to the drawing the Industrial Gas Cylinder Regulator Guard comprises a door 1., a hose safety gap 2., four bolts or clamps 3., three strengthening and locating plates 4., a top main body 5., and a lower main body 6.
In order to mount the Industrial Gas Cylinder Regulator Guard the guard is lifted up over the cylinder and then lowered down. The guard is located and centralised by the strengthening plates 4. then the clamps or bolts 3. are then tightened via the lower body 6., the position of the cylinder key is to the left or right of the door and opposite of the hose safety gap. The lower body 6. will be sufficiently low as to allow clear and free movement when inserting the regulator and opening and shutting the cylinder. To remove the Industrial Gas Cylinder Regulator Guard the steps described above are carried out in the reverse sequence.
