Definitions
- a self locking fastener for hanging things on walls of concrete or other materials A self locking fastener for hanging things on walls of concrete or other materials.
- the object of invention is a self-locking fastener for hanging articles on walls of concrete, board or other materials.
- one way of mounting the fastener is setting into the drill hole a spreader peg, which is extended by a screw turned inside the peg, thus creating a state of locking in the drill hole with the help of friction.
- the opposite end of the peg is often a hook for hanging articles on, which strives to resist the traction force caused by the article to be hung so much, that the article remains hanging on on the wall by producing friction between the drill hole and the spreader peg.
- a usual screw is used, too, which is because of the need of force driven with a screw ⁇ driver into the spreader peg, and the article is hung on the head of the screw, which has been left projecting from the wall surface.
- one way of mounting the fastener is setting into the drill hole a spreader peg, which is expanded by a screw turned inside the peg partly inside the drill hole, partly on the wall surfaces, which causes a state of locking in the drill hole with the help of friction.
- the opposite end of the screw is often a hook for hanging articles on.
- the purpose is to resist the traction force caused by the article to be hung so much that the article remains hanging on the wall.
- the advantage of the invention is the unnecessity of tools due to minimal use of force. There are no loose parts, which saves time and wastes no materials.
- the traction force of the articles is exploited in such a manner that the fastener is locked into the drill hole. This means that the unused energy in the form of traction force is taken for utility purpose. If in the known solutions you often use too big fasteners to secure the hanging on the wall of the article, the safe load of the fastener as per invention is always correct, since the article fastens itself into the drill hole.
- Figure 1 depicts a fastener as per invention in a drill hole, seen fron one side, on a concrete wall, where the traction force of the article hung acts on the fastener,
- Figure 3 depicts a fastener as per invention in a drill hole, seen from one side, on a board wall, where the traction force of the article hung acts on the fastener
- Figure 4 depicts a fastener as per invention on a board wall, seen from above.
- Figure 1 depicts a fastener as per invention, seen from one side, in a drill hole on a concrete wall, where the fastener has been formed into a uniform piece from e.q. an iron bar by mechanical grinding into the depicted shape.
- traction force 8 is transmitted to contact surfaces 2 and 3 because of the form of eccentric rod 1, friction is created between drill hole wall 7 and contact surfaces 2 and 3, and the fastener is locked into the drill hole.
- the contact surfaces have purposefully been bevelled sharp in the transversal direction of the fastener. This takes into use the energy of article 6 hung on the hook manifesting itself as traction force 8. If article 6 is removed from hook 4, traction force 8 and locking force are cancelled, and the fastener can either be moved with little force or it can be easily removed.
- the range of contact surfaces 2 and 3 within the drill hole can vary to some extent because of the slack of eccentric rod 1 at the mouth of the drill hole. This makes possible the use of the fastener with more than one size of drill holes and increases possi ⁇ bilities of use.
- Figure 2 depicts a fastener as per invention used on a concrete wall, seen from above, and clarifies the shape of the fastener from this direction.
- Figure 3 depicts a fastener as per invention, seen from one side, in drill hole 17 on a board wall, where the fastener has been formed into a uniform piece by e.q. die-casting from plastic.
- Article 15 has been hung on hook 13 on the fastener, which creates traction force 14 downwards.
- Eccentric rod 9 has been pushed so deep into drill hole 17 that stopper 10 is touching the outer surface of wall 16. As traction force is transmitted to contact surfaces 11 and 12 because of the shape of eccentric rod 9, friction is created between the drill hole and contact surfaces 11 and 12 and between the outer surface of wall 16 and stopper 10, and the fastener is locked into the drill hole.
- the stress caused by friction on the board wall at contact points 10 and 11 is decreased and the strength of the board material, e.q. gypsum board, is improved, because the stresses directed to the board from different directions tend to cancel one another.
- the stress caused by friction can be divided onto a larger area on the outer surface of wall 16. This makes possible the increase of traction force 8 without breaking the board.
- Figure 4 depicts a fastener as per invention in use on a board wall, seen from above, clarifying the shape of the fastener from this direction.
- a special feature of the invention is, that a fastener as per invention is not limited to presented shapes, but instead of a hook different shapes of the hanging part can be used, which makes possible hanging from the ceiling, too.
- Threading the inside of the eccentric rod of the fastener makes possible the combining of different shapes of the hanging part with a suitable threaded tap for the threads of the eccentric rod.
- the shapes of the contact surfaces can be diffe ⁇ rent, for example bevelled sharp, conically thinning, roundish and partly following the drill hole, broad and level surfaces or spherical surfaces.
- the quality of the surface can be rough, smooth or covered with glue.
