Definitions

  • This invention relates to a mobile storage facility.
  • the invention may be particularly suitable as a mobile storage facility for transporting sporting equipment and related sporting gear to and from sporting venues.
  • the invention is not to be limited as such.
  • the prior art and possible applications of the invention as discussed below are therefore given by way of example only.
  • Managers or coaches of clubs usually have the job of looking after the teams' equipment and gear on playing day. This includes the manager or coach arranging or providing the transportation of the team's gear to outside facilities.
  • the gear is usually stored and transported in large gear bags. For example, there may be provided a gear bag which contains the teams uniform or strip, and another gear bag which contains playing equipment such as balls or bats.
  • First Aid facilities within clubs or first aid kits provided by or transported by managers or coaches are usually woefully inadequate.
  • One reason for this is that a coach or manager will not have the means to transport and therefore provide a comprehensive medical kit and related medical equipment.
  • a mobile storage facility comprising:
  • the body may preferably be substantially cylindrical in shape or be provided with a substantially cylindrical portion.
  • the closure means may preferably be hinged to upper edges of the openings in the side walls so that when the closure means are secured in an open position they provide canopy protection at or for the openings.
  • the storage areas may preferably be further sub-divided by cross-wise partitions.
  • the body may include a cavity facilitating the storage of a patient or working table which may be mounted on the body when it is required.
  • the body may be mounted on a wheeled trailer chassis so that the facility can be towed.
  • the invention comprises a mobile storage facility (herein: MSF) which may preferably be towed behind an appropriate vehicle, and which may preferably be utilised for storing and transporting various items or gear from one site to and/or from another.
  • MSF mobile storage facility
  • the invention may be particularly suitable for storing and transporting sporting gear, especially a clubs' or a teams' gear and equipment to and from away games or to training areas, and the like.
  • the MSF may be provided with any suitable means for rendering it mobile.
  • the MSF may be provided with wheels, preferably two.
  • the MSF may be provided with its own motive power, for example a small electric or petrol driven motor.
  • the MSF may be provided with an appropriate tow bar or towing means to enable it to be towed by an appropriate vehicle, and/or by hand or other suitable or appropriate means.
  • the tow bar or towing means may preferably be provided with means for locking same to a vehicle and/or preventing theft of the MSF when not attached to a vehicle.
  • the MSF may also be provided with means for allowing it to be manoeuvred manually, that is, by hand.
  • the MSF may be provided with handles for pulling and/or pushing same.
  • the MSF may be provided with braking means to render it substantially immobile when desired or required, for example a manually operated hand brake may be provided on the MSF.
  • the MSF may be provided with any number, size, shape or configuration of storage areas and/or storage compartments.
  • the particular arrangement of storage areas and/or storage compartments may be dictated by the type of gear or items to be stored and transported by the MSF.
  • the MSF may comprise a substantially elongate storage area. Disposed around, along, and/or upon the storage area there may be provided a plurality of smaller storage compartments or areas.
  • the storage elongate area (or areas if required or desired) may be provided with any suitable means for gaining access thereto, preferably a hinged door at one end thereof. Preferably, the door may be lockable.
  • the elongate storage area may be utilised for storing larger or more bulky items to be stored and transported by the MSF, for example, gear bags, stretchers, and so on.
  • the storage compartments may be of any size, shape or configuration as required or desired, and may be disposed upon, along and/or around the storage area in any configuration as considered appropriate, or as dictated by the type of gear or items to be stored and transported.
  • MSF Water Tank
  • the water tank may preferably be refrigerated.
  • a freezer compartment for providing ice and the like.
  • the cold water and/or ice or freezer compartments may be particularly appropriate if the MSF is used for transporting sporting gear and the like since many sporting injuries may be treated or soothed by the use of cold water and/or ice.
  • a pump or other suitable means to enable water to be pumped through a suitable hose or other distribution means.
  • the pump may be mechanically, electrically or manually operated. For example, there are available water filled ankle boots and knee pads for soothing sporting injuries and the pump and water hose may be utilised for filling such apparatus when required or as desired.
  • the MSF may also be provided with any suitable power source, for example for powering a freezer unit, pump, or any other appliance.
  • any suitable power source for example for powering a freezer unit, pump, or any other appliance.
  • Such means may preferably be in the form of an electric battery or batteries.
  • the MSF may be of any suitable size, shape or configuration as required or desired. Preferably the size of the MSF should not be too great whereby it is difficult to remove and/or transport. Preferably, the MSF may be substantially cylindrical in shape.
  • Figure 4 is an end view of the mobile storage facility of figure 1 with side doors and awnings in a fully open position.
