Abstract
A baby cream for protecting the skin against humidity in the form of a water-in-oil emulsion contains as water-repelling emulsifying component an oil-soluble copolymer of vinylpyrrolidone and a liphilic comonomer with an olefinic double bond and a linear alkyl group with 8 to 34 C atoms having 5,000 to 25,000 means molecular weight. As further emulsifying components polyglycerine fatty acid esters or oxethylates of ricinoleic acid or hydroxystearinic acid triglyceride are particularly preferred. Zinc oxide, which is water-repelling and skin-protecting but cosmetically unsatisfactory, may be replaced by these components.
Description
"Wasserabweisende Babycreme' 'Water repellent baby cream'
The invention relates to baby creams for protecting the skin against diaper moisture in the form of a water-in-oil emulsion and to an emulsifier system suitable for the production of such creams.
The skin of babies is particularly sensitive on the one hand, and on the other hand, due to child incontinence, it is particularly exposed to diaper moisture and the skin-irritating components of urine and stool and their decomposition products. Particularly in the diaper triangle, the skin swells easily and there is inflammatory reddening, which can lead to diaper dermatitis under the influence of microorganisms.
The task of baby creams is therefore to protect the skin from the wetness of the diaper. This is usually achieved by using particularly fat-containing creams which contain, for example, microwax, petroleum jelly or paraffin oil and wool wax and, for thickening, pigments such as zinc oxide, TiO 2, talc or silica. Because of these additives, it is mostly heavy pastes with no cosmetic value. In particular, the widely used zinc oxide is little desirable in such products for cosmetic and now also for ecological reasons. The task was therefore to replace the water-repellent and skin-protecting effects of zinc oxide with a cosmetically more satisfactory formulation.
It has now been found that this can be achieved by using a fat-soluble copolymer of vinylpyrrolidone and a lipophilic comonomer as the water-repellent component in such baby creams.
The invention therefore relates to a baby cream for protecting the skin against diaper moisture in the form of a water-in-oil emulsion and a content of cosmetic oil or fat components, emulsifiers and water, in which a water-insoluble, fat-soluble copolymer of vinylpyrrolidone is used as the water-repellent emulsifier component and a lipophilic comonomer with an olefinic double bond and a linear alkyl group with 8 to 24 carbon atoms, with an average molecular weight of 5,000 to 20,000 in an amount of 1 to 10 wt .-%.
Suitable lipophilic comonomers are, for example, allyl, methallyl and vinyl ethers of fatty alcohols having 8 to 22 carbon atoms or the allyl, methallyl or vinyl esters of C8 to C22 fatty acids. However, particularly preferred comonomers are the linear olefins having 8 to 22 carbon atoms. The fat solubility of the copolymers can be set as desired by the quantitative ratio of the comonomer to the N-vinylpyrrolidone. The fat solubility should be at least so high that at least 10% by weight of the copolymer is soluble in n-dodecane at 20 ° C. N-vinylpyrrolidone and lipophilic comonomer are preferably present in the copolymer in a molar ratio of 3: 1 to 1: 3. Suitable fat-soluble copolymers are commercially available. These copolymers have surface-active properties and contribute to the stabilization of the water-in-oil emulsion. The emulsifiers customary for the preparation of water-in-oil emulsions, in particular fatty acid monoglycerides, fatty acid sorbitan esters and their mixtures with cetyl and stearyl alcohol, can be used as further emulsifier components.
