Abstract

Un procédé et un appareil pemettent de générer des impulsions acoustiques intenses par effet de choc d'eau. Selon le procédé, on génère un choc d'eau dans un conduit (5) en arrêtant soudainement un courant de fluide à haute vitesse à travers le conduit (5). L'énergie cinétique du fluide s'écoulant dans le conduit (5) est convertie en une impulsion de haute pression qui se propage le long du conduit (5), en s'éloignant du point (7) où le courant de fluide a été arrêté. L'impulsion de haute pression déforme la paroi du conduit (5), irradiant de l'énergie acoustique du conduit vers un milieu fluide (11) qui entoure le conduit. On peut ajuster la quantité relative d'énergie dissipée sous forme de courant massique dans le fluide environnant (11) et d'énergie acoustique dans le fluide environnant (11) en modifiant les caractéristiques de la paroi du conduit. On peut déterminer la direction dans laquelle l'énergie acoustique se propage dans le milieu fluide (11) qui entoure le conduit (5) en formant des asymétries ou des coudes dans le conduit (5). Des modes de réalisation de l'invention utiles dans des techniques de nettoyage acoustique, de réduction de la viscosité de fluides et de sédimentation acoustique sont décrits.
