Abstract
Description
Method for fertilizing and/or consolidating dry, in particular sandy and/or rocky, soils The present invention relates to a method for fertilizing and/or consolidating dry, in particular sandy and/or rocky, soils.
The soils intended for processing can be infertile desert soils on the one hand, but on the other hand soils damaged by human influence in climatically favorable zones, such as ski slopes and the like, can be made biologically viable again with the help of this process.
The method according to the invention is characterized in that a perforated foil, in particular made of plastic, is placed on the floor, that essentially flat, hollow, self-supporting components with a central opening and a running essentially along the inner wall of the component delimiting the opening, opening directed towards the middle of the component and that these components are then filled with (moist) earth material mixed with at least nitrogen compounds and optionally also hygroscopic substances and optionally with seeds of desired plants, such as natural shade providers, grass, ground cover or shrubs, preferably including the middle opening , are filled, whereupon, if necessary, the moisture necessary for the plants to germinate is provided.
In this way, it is possible to make infertile, dry soil fertile again on the one hand and to solve various waste problems on the other.
The structures for this purpose can preferably consist of used car tires, which can be put to good use in this way.
Other structures that can be used according to the invention, e.g. made of ceramic, plastic or recycled plastic material, essentially correspond to the dimensions of car tires and can be used in a similar way.
The perforated foil applied and the special geometry of the structure ensure that the moisture brought in with the earth material or the water that may have been applied by sprinkling does not evaporate again too quickly.
If the components are not completely filled with earth material, this is by no means disturbing, since a vapor chamber forms in the remaining cavities, which also does not allow the moisture to escape.
In desert areas, where the plants cannot continue to develop on their own due to climatic reasons due to a lack of moisture, irrigation is advantageously provided, especially in the initial period. The indentations formed by the central openings of the components can be worked in the manner of flower pots until the plants are large enough to continue living on their own.
As mentioned, enriched earth material is used as filling material for the structures and the depressions existing between them and within them. As an admixture to the earth material, preferably treated sewage sludge, seepage residues, cesspool residues or faeces and/or treated paper or textile material, optionally with hygroscopic additives, are used.
It is particularly favorable if the earth material is enriched with fertilizers, preferably with substances containing nitrogen or ammonia.
For the purpose according to the invention, it is also possible to process domestic refuse dumps by first separating the inorganic, metallic or bulky solids such as rubble, household appliances, furniture, etc., then crushing the residues, possibly sorting them again and crushing them.
For the purpose of sterilization, it may be useful to freeze-dry this comminuted material and/or the admixture mentioned above. It can then be used according to the invention as a substance containing at least nitrogen compounds.
An ecologically particularly valuable articulation system is thus created, which is characterized by the enrichment of soil material, in particular compost soil, with optionally freeze-dried admixtures containing at least nitrogen compounds.
If the pads applied according to the invention grow through with plant roots on the soil to be treated and are covered with grass or other ground cover, the entire pad grows into the humus layer formed and the pads are not removed later. They serve to fix the ground and do not disturb the plants or for visual reasons.
If necessary, the waste tires can also be used to build windbreaks in the vicinity of the soil to be regenerated, which prevent the soil material from drying out and blowing away or form barriers for drifting sand. These windbreaks can be removed again when the planting has become strong enough .
The invention will now be described in more detail using an exemplary embodiment with the aid of the attached drawing.
On sandy or rocky ground 1 there is placed a perforated foil 3 consisting in particular of plastic and having a large number of openings 2 . Components 4, in particular old or used car tires, are arranged tightly packed on this film 3. These car tires have an all-round opening 5 in their inner wall, which forms a passage from the inside of the tire for breaking through the component 4 .
Each tire itself, as well as the free central area encompassed by the inner wall of the tire, is filled with soil 6 enriched with substances containing ammonia or nitrogen, which soil carries seeds of desired plants. Moisture can seep into the ground via the openings 2 in the film 3 .
