Abstract
A process and device are disclosed for manufacturing profiled, enamel-coated strips or metal sheet, preferably made of steel. The heated and enamel-coated strips or metal sheets are profiled when the enamel coating is in the plastic-viscous state.
Description
"Verfahren zur Herstellung von profilierten, emailbeschichteten Bändern oder Blechen sowie Einrichtung zur Durchführung solcher Verfahren" "Process for the production of profiled, enamel-coated strips or sheets and device for carrying out such processes"
Steel strips or sheets are enamelled, in particular for corrosion protection, for a wide variety of uses. Furthermore, sheets are used which are first profiled by rolling, folding or deep drawing and then enamel coated in separate processing steps. They are used in particular as components, for example in the manner of trapezoidal profiles, steel strips and sheets, which are plastic-coated. However, this coating is particularly in the Fire is problematic because aggressive and toxic compounds are released. It is therefore a requirement to replace plastic-coated strips or sheets with corrosion-protected sheets without plastic coating with the same or better properties than the plastic or dry paint coating with regard to weathering and aging resistance with the colors remaining.
A subsequent profiling of enamel-coated smooth strips or sheets is not possible according to previous knowledge because of the brittleness of the enamel layer.
The object of the invention is to propose a method for producing profiled, enamel-coated strips or sheets which is economical in industrial terms and which permits almost any type of profiling.
The object of the invention is achieved in that the profiling of the heated and then enamel-coated strips or sheets takes place in the plastic-viscous state of the enamel coating. Like glasses, enamels generally have no melting point in the thermodynamic sense, but instead continuously change from the solid to the plastic-viscous to the molten state when heated or vice versa when cooling. In the area of their freezing or transformation temperature T, the enamel changes from the elastic, brittle to the plastic-viscous state. According to the invention, the correspondingly warm and coated strips or sheets are to be profiled in a clearly plastically viscous state. The suitable known temperature range varies depending on the type of enamel. For reasons of the energy input in such an overall process, it is advantageous to coat the strips or sheets immediately after their heating treatment and then to profile them. A powder coating is preferably suitable for the proposed methods. However, wet coating is also possible if cooling is provided after the strips or sheets have been produced from the base metal.
In the plastically viscous state of the enamel layer, the strips or sheets can be profiled continuously or discontinuously using the known methods, such as folding, deep drawing and / or rolling, without the enamel layer being damaged.
Von Vorteil sind Einrichtungen zur Durchführung des Ver¬ fahrens mit beheizten Profi 1 ierungswerkzeugen .Devices for carrying out the method with heated professional tools are advantageous.
According to the invention, it is also proposed to arrange the devices necessary for the coating and the subsequent profiling in individual sections of a temperature-monitored and -controlled heating system.
