Description

CONTRACEPTIVE PROTECTION MEANS.
The present invention concerns a contraceptive
_• preservative as defined in the preamble to Claim 1. 5 The condom is generally considered the best protection against all venereal diseases, and it is considered the sole efficient protection against HIV infection. It is also a contraceptive commonly used in preventing gravidity. To carry a conventional condom
10 which has to be rolled over the penis, and to use it, has usually been mainly the man's responsibility, al¬ though in newer times many women also carry them along for safety's sake.
The drawback in the use of a conventional con-
15 dom is its awkward installation, or this is at least experienced as an awkward and inconvenient spoil-mood. In the intimate situation it is often carelessly in¬ stalled, or due to impatience its installation is omit¬ ted altogether.
20 A further problem in using condoms is that many men suffer partial or total loss of erection at the stage when the condom is being installed. Women, on the other hand, have heretofore been in a more unsafe position than men because women have not been offered
25 condoms of their own, and it has not always been pos¬ sible to rely or exert influence on men's condom use.
The object of the invention is to eliminate the drawbacks just discussed.
A specific object of the invention is to dis-
30 close a novel type of contraceptive preservative based on the condom and meant to be used by the woman, which makes using a condom equally easy for the woman as for the man.
Furthermore, an object of the invention is to
35 disclose a contraceptive preservative which enables copulation to be exercised in full safety, without any embarrassing preliminaries. Further still, one object of the invention is to disclose a contraceptive preservative which affords good protection against venereal diseases and against HIV infection. The contraceptive preservative of the inven¬ tion is characterized by that which is stated in Claim 1.
The contraceptive preservative of the inven¬ tion meant for the woman to use comprises a condom. A condom is an elongated sheath made of thin and flexible material, said material being impermeable to spermato¬ zoa and to disease-inducing organisms.
As taught by the invention, the contraceptive preservative is arranged to constitute a tanga-like or drawers-resembling piece of clothing, on that part thereof which lies substantially close to the vaginal aperture being attached a ready-to-use condom, folded up in a small space.
In an embodiment of the contraceptive preser- vative, the contraceptive preservative comprises a waist band, to be placed around the woman's hips, and a suspender part which is suspended from said waist band and disposed to cover the woman's external genitals and, advantageously, at least part of the mons pubis and of the hair growth. The condom is detachably at¬ tached by its margin to this suspender part, which ad¬ vantageously consists of dense material impermeable to liquids. Furthermore, the contraceptive preservative comprises a protective covering which is detachably attached to the suspender part, to cover and to protect the condom. Moreover, the contraceptive preservative comprises fixing means for securing the suspender part and the waist band to each other.
In an embodiment of the contraceptive preser- vative, the protective covering is attached on the out¬ side of the suspender part; and the contraceptive pre¬ servative comprises a protective film, detachably at- tached on the inside of the suspender part, on the op¬ posite side of the condom in relation to the protective covering. The inside of the suspender part is the side facing the body, and the outside is the side facing away from the body.
In an embodiment of the contraceptive preser¬ vative, the protective covering and the protective film are disposed to form, together with the suspender part, an air-tight and liquid-tight aseptic package for the condom. In such a package the condom is best kept in¬ tact over prolonged periods.
In an embodiment of the contraceptive pre¬ servative, the protective covering comprises a grasp member, such as a tongue or equivalent, by pulling on which the protective covering can be detached. The contraceptive preservative is ready for use after re¬ moval of the protective covering, which is accomplished with a single movement of the hand.
In an embodiment of the contraceptive pre- servative, the contraceptive preservative comprises a padding, provided with a slit and connected to the in¬ side of the suspender part. The purpose of this padding is to give a comfortable feeling against the sensitive skin in the area in question. It may be detachable and removable, or it may also remain in place during inter¬ course, and in the latter case intromission is rendered possible by said slit.
In an embodiment of the contraceptive pre¬ servative, the suspender part comprises a flexible tri- angular part to which the condom is connected; and from the points of this triangular part extend three flex¬ ible fixing ribbons, these ribbons comprising two front ribbons for affixing to the waist band on the anterior side of the body and one rear ribbon for affixing to the waist band on the posterior side of the body.
In an embodiment of the contraceptive pre¬ servative, the contraceptive preservative is provided with a drawers part which as an article of clothing is more covering than the suspender part, and which com¬ prises fixing elements for attaching the contraceptive preservative to the waist band. It is thus understood that the drawers part has no waist band of its own: the waist band of the contraceptive preservative is used to keep it suspended, and consequently the conventional lower part of underclothing is not absolutely needed at all. In an embodiment of the contraceptive pre¬ servative, the fixing elements comprise patent fasten¬ ers, buttons, adhesive or fabric tapes, or the like. The fixing elements may be any easy-to-use fixing ele¬ ments whatsoever conventionally used in connection with fabrics which render detachable attachment possible.
In an embodiment of the contraceptive pre¬ servative, the condom is a folded-up bellows condom, which is, advantageously, provided with gliding agent, with spermicide killing sperm cells and/or with a phar- macologically active substance, such as nonoxynol-9. Nonoxynol-9 inactivates HIV virus, kills the sperm cells and certain microorganisms. A bellows condom is understood to be a folded-up condom provided, in accor¬ dion fashion, with a plurality of folds and which thus is not meant to be rolled on like a conventional con¬ dom. The bellows condom gets pushed into the vagina in connection with intromission of penis and operates thereafter like a normal condom.
The advantage of the invention is that it ren- ders condom use equally easy for women as for men.
It is a further advantage of the invention that the contraceptive preservative enables intercourse to be performed in full safety and without any embar¬ rassing preparations. The condom is ready to be used, after minor actions.
Further, thanks to the invention, the contra¬ ceptive preservative affords good protection from vene- real diseases and HIV infection.
In the following the invention is described in detail, referring to the attached drawing, wherein:-
Fig. 1 presents an embodiment of the contra- ceptive preservative of the invention, dressed on a woman;
Fig. 2 shows the woman of Fig. 1, viewed from the rear;
Fig. 3 presents, as an axonometric exploded front view, the contraceptive preservative of Fig. 1;
Fig. 4 presents, as an axonometric exploded rear view, the contraceptive preservative of Fig. 3;
Fig. 5 presents another embodiment of the contraceptive preservative of the invention and which is provided with a drawers part, dressed on a woman; and
Fig. 6 shows the woman of Fig. 5, viewed from the rear.
Fig. 1 depicts a contraceptive preservative meant to be used by a woman and which has been disposed to constitute a tanga-like, or drawers-like, article of clothing to which has been attached, substantially in the vicinity of the vaginal aperture, a ready-to-use condom that is folded up to small bulk, this condom being referenced with the numeral 1.
Figs 1 and 2 reveal that the contraceptive preservative comprises a waist band 2 , disposed on the woman's pelvis. The preservative further comprises a suspender part 3 which has been suspended from the waist band 2 and has been fitted to cover the woman's external genitals and, advantageously, at least part of the hair cover as well. The suspender part 3 and waist band 2 are secured to each other by means of patent fasteners 5, or snap fasteners. In Figs 3 and 4 is seen a condom 1 which has been attached to the suspender part 3 in such manner that it is held in place during copulation, but can be detached after use and replaced with a new condom again. The condom 1 is a folded-up bellows condom, pos¬ sibly coated with gliding agent and sper icide and/or with a pharmacologically active substance. For in- stance, nonoxynol-9 is such a substance, which also inactivates HIV vira. The preservative further com¬ prises a protective covering 4, detachably attached to the suspender part 3, in order to cover and protect the condom. The protective covering 4 is attached on the outside 6 of the suspender part 3. The contraceptive preservative further comprises a protective film 7 which can be detachably attached to the side of the condom 1 which is opposite relative to the protective covering 4, on the inside 8 of the suspender part 3. Attached to the suspender part 3, the protective cover¬ ing 4 and the protective film 7 form, in combination with the suspender part 3, a well-sealed aseptic pack¬ age for the condom 1. The protective covering 4 com¬ prises a tongue 9, by pulling on which the protective covering can be detached.
The suspender part 3 comprises a flexible, triangular part 12, to which the condom 1 is connected. From the points of said triangular part 12 extend three flexible attachment ribbons, which comprise two front ribbons 13,14 which are attached as shown in the fig¬ ure, by patent fasteners 5, on the forward side of the waist band 2. One rear ribbon 15 is affixed with a patent fastener 5 on the waist band 2, in the centre in the back, as in Fig. 2. When installed, the ribbon 15 runs in or upon the cleft between the buttock halves.
In Figs 5 and 6 is seen an embodiment in which the preservative of Figs 1 and 2 comprises, as an extra accessory, a drawers part 16, which as an article of clothing is more covering than the suspender part 3 of Figs 1-2, i.e., it covers part of the body in the man¬ ner of ladies' drawers. The drawers part 16 also com¬ prises a patent fastener 17 for attachment to the waist band 2. Thus, the waist band 2 is here also used to support the drawers part 16.
The invention is not delimited to concern merely the embodiment examples presented in the fore¬ going: numerous modifications are conceivable within the scope of the inventive idea, defined by the claims.
