Abstract

Procédé et dispositif permettant de diriger une radiation laser dans un faisceau conique sur des tissus que l'on désire irradier. Le faisceau conique peut être positionné afin que l'impact sur les tissus se fasse suivant une configuration circulaire, elliptique ou toute autre configuration pouvant être produite par une section conique ayant une interaction avec une surface plane ou incurvée. Dans une forme de réalisation, le dispositif en question comprend une fibre optique (20) et une lentille (80) qui focalise un rayon laser selon un angle oblique sur la surface extrême proximale (70) de la fibre optique afin d'émettre à partir de l'extrémité distale de la fibre optique (47) un rayon laser ayant une configuration conique (99). Dans une autre forme de réalisation, le dispositif comprend une fibre optique (200) ayant une extrémité distale conique (247) et une lentille qui focalise un rayon laser sur la surface extrême proximale (270) de la fibre optique (200) le long de l'axe longitudinal de la fibre. Le rayon laser conique peut être utilisé pour irradier ou sculpter des tissus tels que la cornée d'un oeil afin de modifier sa caractéristique de réfraction.
