Abstract

A miniaturised cassette player, such as a 3 volt unit, and the door bell are connected to the lead from the bell button for the 1 minute (or other variable) period during which the noise of a barking dog is emitted. The system may also be connected to a burglar alarm, if installed, using a longer tape (sound effect).

Description

SOUNDEFFECTS SYSTEMCONNECTED TODOORBELLORBURGLAR ALARM
The present invention relates to a device connected to a door bell, burglar alarm or similar installation which, in addition to the normal sound, emits a deterrent noise such as the fr barking of a dog or other, equivalent sound effect.
BACKGROUND TO INVENTION
Since persons living alone and elderly people, as well as temporarily vacant apartments, appear completely undefended, they are often vulnerable to attempted break-in. This may be prevented simply with the aid of the present invention.
PURPOSE AND MAJOR CHARACTERISTICS OF INVENTION
The purpose of the invention is to deter attempted break-in, unwelcome visitors etc. by connecting a cassette player or other sound source emitting a deterrent noise, such as the noise of a barking dog or other, equivalent sound effect, by means of an adjustable, time- controlled switch, to a door bell or other device, such as a burglar alarm. The sound may be emitted for a period determined by the user, said period and the sound itself being variable.
EXAMPLE OF INSTALLATION
An existing door bell is connected, through a timer, to a cassette player equipped with an automatic, continuous (endless) monitoring facility. The timer switches on the cassette player when the bell button is pressed, causing the barking noise to be emitted, either continuously or for a specific period. This is repeated each time the bell is used. The t system may obviously be connected to other installations, such as a burglar alarm.

1. An alarm bell, door bell or similar device; an adjustable or non-adjustable timer switch; and a cassette player or other sound source emitting a suitable deterrent noise.
2. A burglar alarm or similar device combined in accordance with the foregoing patent claim.
