Abstract

A flagpole consisting of a supporting pole (1) and a sleeve rotatable about the upper part of the supporting pole, where the rotating sleeve is provided with an upper and a lower slide bearing (4, 5) firmly connected to attachment means (9) for a flag or the like.

Description

FLAGPOLE
The purpose of the present invention is to produce a flagp comprising a supporting pole and a sleeve rotatable about upper part of the supporting pole.
With this construction one achieves the correct placement the attachment means. for the flag or the like with respect the wind direction and the flag; if the flag becomes furl around the rotating sleeve in a calm, it will quickly unfo when a breeze blows up again.
From NO patent no. 160 278 there is known a flagpo comprising a rotating sleeve with attachment means for a fl or the like, supported on a supporting pole where t rotating sleeve is rotatably secured at the upper end there to the flagpole's supporting journal for the flagpole bal which journal is attached to the upper end of the flagpol The rotating sleeve is provided at the lower end thereof wi a bead having a sliding surface which facilitates t rotation of the sleeve with shifting wind directions.
Although the flagpole according to the above cited pate performs very well with respect to its purpose, the produ tion of the pole requires a relatively large amount of wor which makes the product more expensive when flagpoles are be produced in large series.
The purpose of the present invention is to produce a flagpo which may easily be assembled from prefabricated individu parts, and the pole according to the present invention thus suitable for production in large series.
It has proven expedient in the production of flagpoles large series to use preferentially tubular elements, althou the flagpole may also be produced from solid material such plastic or wood, cut into suitable lengths and having slide bearings made of, e.g., a suitable plastic material, and having attachment means for the flag that are adapted to the tubular elements.
The invention is thus characterized by the feature that the rotating sleeve is provided with an upper and a lower slide bearing firmly connected to the attachment means for a flag or the like, whereby the upper slide bearing is made rotatable about a fastening device for a flagpole ball or similar decoration, which fastening device is secured via a bolt to the supporting pole.
In assembling the flagpole, a lower and an upper slide bearing is mounted on the rotating sleeve, and said sleeve is slid onto the supporting pole, which has been provided in advance with an end boss that is threaded for receival of an anchor bolt to secure the fastening device for the flagpole ball. The fastening device for the flagpole ball is bolted securely to an end boss in the supporting pole or is securely bolted directly to the supporting pole if the latter is manufactured of a solid material.
Reference is made to the drawings, where Figure 1 shows an assembled flagpole in longitudinal section, Figure 2 shows the supporting pole, Figure 3 shows the rotating sleeve, Figure 4 shows the flagpole ball, Figure 5 shows the fastening device for the flagpole ball, Figure 6 shows an end boss with a hole that is threaded for receival of an anchor bolt, and Figure 7 shows the configuration of the upper slide bearing.
We refer to Figure 1, which shows the pole in assembled state, ready for use, with a supporting pole 1 and a rotating sleeve that is made rotatable by means of an upper and lower slide bearing, which slide bearings 4,5 are provided with attachment means 9 for a flag or the like. The lower slide bearing 5 is further provided with a slide surface 11 adapted to the diameter of the supporting pole. The rotatin sleeve is secured axially with the aid of a bolt 8 to th upper end of the supporting pole with the aid of th fastening device 6 for the flagpole ball 3, and this i mounted on said fastening device.
